Back on May 3rd, I buried my Nat tub out in the compost pile because it caught a spot of the green after the 2nd flush...

I completely forgot about it until I went to throw out some weeds from gardening today:

Apparently the rain we had Thursday was enough for a few to pop!  Took a look at the extended forecast...

I’m doing dub tub for some shoeboxes. Is it necessary to leave a crack for fae, or will it get enough with the small slits around the dub tub when they are perfectly stacked?

What's the current consensus on fae during colonisation of sub for nats? Apparently what I learned about how I should restrict fae until I want to start fruiting, then uncover the holes to trigger pinning, was outdated knowledge. Apparently this varies from species to species though and there is a lot of conflicting information about this. Mixed my spawn into some coir and threw it in my monotub yesterday afternoon, I have all my holes covered currently. I dont want to suffocate the mycelium but I dont want to dry it out either. Actives are proving to be a lot more difficult than culinary.

Fruiting conditions from day one.

Dub tub should get plenty of air as long as you don’t tape it up or anything.

I have over 200g dry, all spawn started with plins. Done in faht-locs and using Beef’s punisher tek for second and 3rd flushes. These are a few of the 30 plin plates waiting  their turn. So much fun!

Dear Sir, I must inform you that all your plins died waiting, my condolences.
Wishing them a good afterlife, tho
:pope:

Ps: In a more serious not, I'm confused :confused2::
did the plins grown on those plates? I don't see myc...
or did you transfer them to new plates? In that case, why transfer more than one genetic info?

The plates are covered with myc. I haven’t transferred any of this. My thought is to tiger-drop a plate to grain. The plins have withered but the myc lives on. I don’t remember now why I put up so many plates.

Rain over the weekend made the compost pile nats grow like crazy, harvested 5 more caps the other night

So far the smallest of the compost nats is about the same size as the largest caps I grew in a tub... I may just grow these outdoors in the summer in a planter from now on

My indoor grow was about 90-93% water weight, these outdoor ones are averaging 95-97%, this was the 70g+ cap trimmed and dried:

2-3 grams average per mushroom dry? yeah, I can live with that

Are these the genetics I sent you?  If so I too may need to do an outdoor compost pile grow.

Hmmmm. Your nats look like my nats, which look like your nats!

I think you're fine. I will say, that harvesting and cleaning hundreds tiny squishy noodles was no fun. But alas...10oz wet for first tub 'o nats. I'll take it! Got some printing now and sent one to clone on agar.  Hoping second flush they beef up a bit, but not expecting miracles.

Alright, looks similar. Do the caps get bigger in a later stage?

I'm going on holidays now for a week... Should i harvest or risk the sporefest upon my returnal? πŸ€”
