Hydrating grain is just another way to say you're cooking them. It's as simple as boiling, that's it, nothing special, end of story. If you can make pasta or raman you can hydrate any cereal grain.

People have a tendency to fixate on the wrong things.

exactly.  I mean... I didn't make that tek Because it was supposed to be like some new cutting edge method and you have to follow it exactly or you will fail kindof thing.

i just wanted to make a really visual aid for people so they could kindof see how its supposed to look.  ffs, its not rocket surgery and i see people just killing themselves trying not to burst a single grain.

i mean.  that in and of itself Is totally impossible.  the hulling machine cracks plenty ot grains.  I get these guys sending me pictures or grain batches, Asking me if they are OK or if they should throw them to the chickens and im like

"that is far better grain than I have ever done in my life"

A confession of pure laziness and neglect...

I made 20 pre-pour plates with the best of intentions, but life got in the way. Today, 2 maybe 3 weeks later, I opened the PC, plates look fine, but I don't trust them. But instead of dumping and repouring, I added water and started another PC cycle.

I confess, I inoculated 11 two month old jars with an LC that's about the same age or older.  Let's see what happens :lol:

Harvested some tubs last night as I just got home from a trip.

Woke up today and looked in the grow room -- I missed an entire tub because it had dropped so many spores it's blackness matched the liner and looked the damn same. Harvested that this morning :lol:.

Forgive me for I have sinned.
I bought Petri dishes online that said they were high-quality. That was a lie. I should’ve vetted the product better.
This is what I got for it.

My oat prep has gotten so lazy. I don’t even let it dry anymore. I boil the shit out of it too. 60 minutes at least. Strain and straight to jars and PC it straight away. Let them sit for a few days with a few shakes and then hit it with 3 ml LC. Can’t seem to get oats to over hydrate.

I also have multiple jars of LC that I’m too lazy to test on agar. I just judge their cleanliness by how they look on the grain that I’m too lazy to prepare correctly.

As soon as I get burned I’ll regroup but so far so good 🤪
