I've done this when my gloves were so drenched in iso I didn't notice it was rolling down my scalpel and onto my plates. :shrug:

Weird. I never cool my blade, but you’d think that would be the most sterile spot!

My usual MO is to have 2 scalpels. While one cools I use the other. This has had a 100% success rate as far as contams at the site of use. No idea what made this go so south. I’ll just go back to that method it’s no biggie.

In fact some of the contam is bacteria, which definitely shouldn’t have survived on a red hot blade.

I just did that with two scalpels for the first time today. Loved it.

I can't imagine what would cause problems at the cooling spot, except what LadysKnight suggested. Maybe a wet glove dripping unnoticed. I couldn't even think of a good flippant answer. Were you sweaty, bleeding, molting?

I try not to molt during SAB sessions. No iso no gloves. I don’t know. Just gonna clean it up and hope for better plates this time.

I confess, I play classical music for my fungi on the radio all day while I’m at work, and sometimes while I’m on the road, I like to listen to it with them. It helps us bond.

It’s ok. Things are always kinda hard until you figure them out. You’ll get it. Best thing to do now is wrap as many plates as you can. If they contam out it’s ok. Just make more.

I Threw all my hard earned cultures like a mad man by the river, thinking I had the wrong species ID during & after a HARD trip.

I confess.. before I discovered the Shroomery, my very first attempt at cult was MSS direct to a pre-made grow kit bag of questionable contents, in which I successfully grew a really lovely big ol batch of trichoderma. It was an expensive lesson, but lesson learned.

I confess, my first cult attempt was spores to pftek in like 2013.  I gave my girlfriend and roommate $30, kicked them out of the house to the bar, lysoled the room, stripped naked, showered, and inoculated my brf jars while I was butt ass naked.

A tent that's 1/2" smaller than it said on the exterior and 2" smaller on the interior.

Which means the shelves I got for it don't fit and I had to write Vivosun to ask wtf

I confess that it wasn’t long ago enough that I was wearing a full body tyvek suit to knock up quarts of bacterial and under hydrated wbs with a spore syringe through rtv silicone
