The “pin” was a fully developed mushroom. I put a small piece to agar and the rest of the fruit body is in grains as we speak. But to answer your question I would send this plate to grain or LC as is.

Cool, thank you. That is the direction I was going, so it shall be.

Side note, for some reason my LC test plates seem to be pinning like crazy, much more so than the 2 other plates I've had pin.

Nah that’s when I put the pin tissue on the plate. It took like 2 months to grow out on the donor.

I had luck a few times with G.T. cubes on plates that i unwrapped and let sit. The extra FAE i think helped it form pins. I havent actually taken clones this way. I'm sure it prevents contamination way better than choosing from a fruiting tub. Have you had good results with this tek?

I still have a bunch of grain jars from my last run I need to inoculate. I have lots of clean LC I can use and whatnot.

I have 6 jars colonizing and 5 more to inoculate before I get to the plastic lids. I know many will fail, but it’s ok. About to make the change to plastic!

I’m having really high contamination rates, and it’s been suggested that the 2 piece metal lids could be part of the problem. Plastic lids are a single piece and keep your fingers off the glass. Yes they have a silicone gasket.

Mine are drilled and I’m installing SFDs today here in a bit!

Next PC cycle I’ll try them out and report back.
