Here the situation: it seems that I may have not lost all the Petri dishes (I dumped 2 today); finally, after 8 days, the mycelium popped out. Considering, of course, the 2 monsters they have as neighbour and the dimension of the myc to this day, should I transfer them ASAP or should I wait another week to transfer into the T1 dishes? Please note the poor the myc on the top left of the right dish battling with the Thing. It's a shame, 'couse it seems to be the most vigorous one!

Also, can you tell me what are those? 2 kinds of molds?

4 LC plates being tested. 48 hours later and all are showing signs of life :awesome:

Waiting for my swabbed plates to show some growth, but that will be a few more days if anything managed to germ

Hey, just about to do my first agar and want to check I have everything right to go...

So I'm using agagagar/ME/NY - 7gm/7gm/1gm in 400ml MB...

I have 23qt presto with couple quarters on weight!

I put the rack on bottom and add how much water, I only have cups not qts...

And it's 30min/15psi correct!?

I've studied and received help on using PC so I think I'm ready on that, but I'll wait a while for any comments to make sure I'm going forward correctly...

Nothing wrong with the recipe. You donโ€™t need to PC broth for more than 15 minutes. Liquids sterilize fast, and a longer cook time can caramelize your sugars and render the agar useless. Thatโ€™s what happened to me earlier this year. Nothing would grow on my plates, not even contam, and then I dropped PC time to 15 minutes and all my recipes worked flawlessly.

Sucks we didn't catch that sooner. I even knew about that side effect and it didn't even cross my mind. I flogged myself with the sea shell nine tails for it.

I do 20 min to play things safe, but 15 works... use the normal amount of water.. I think it's 12 cups (up to the little line)

Ok, so 4 cups is 1qt so I'll be back and let you guys how things went then wait for the right temp 160F or less!?

Then I'll pour in my ketsup cups in front of my FH...

Sometimes using more water can add a bigger buffer to the sensitivity of the heat applied. Making it less sensitive to rapidly changing when the heat temp is adjusted. Makes it thicker if you will.
