Theres no way we can answer that for ya, theres way too many variables.

First they came for the communists, and I did not speak out because I was not a communist.
Then they came for the migrants, and I did not speak out because I was not a migrant.
Then they came for the queers, and I did not speak out because I was not queer.
Then they came for me, and there was nobody left to help me.

I think there's a lot of variables:

1. Tub size, unless your fruiting inside the bag!?
2. Strain, with colonization speed, contamination resistance, types of fruits produced and speed of fruiting?
3. Temps, humidity, spawn/sub ratio, and casing depth?
4. Lighting and FAE to some degree...
5. (Insert more variables) :tongue2:...lol

You really think as low as 17?!

If you’re doing 3.5Hrs and 3 quarts fills you up to that first line I’d definitely add a bit more to be safe and adjust from there.

Your cakes are 5 months old? Wow.

How prominent are the pins?

They are all on the sides. One has a half mature fruit on it but most are just baby pins.

When I get really prominent pins I just put them straight to fruiting for that first flush. Then dunk and roll after harvest.

Quick question 1 (LC):

LC trend seems to be .2 to 1% nutes these days. So I want to make a simple Karo LC. Prob aiming for .4% nutes. Do I got for .8% Karo weight as it is nut pure sugar?

Question 2 (agar):

I have experimented with PDA, WA and BRF agar yet. Next batch I wanna do grain water agar. I feel like according to the newer trends I should dilute it. Maybe 40% grain water and 60% water? What do you (experienced grain agar cult) use and feel is a good ratio? If that matters, it's going to be rye berries water.

Thanks, so glad this community exist

Check the nutrition facts on the back of the bottle. Base your target % on carbohydrate grams to mL of water.

Well that's interesting. It says 31g carbs per 30ml Karo. I always thought 1ml of water weighted 1g. I guess sugar syrup is heavier than water. But thank you

That's 15$ a pop.

Go to the grocery store buy some 1.49$ on sale ranch dressing glass bottles with the metal lid. Drill a hope and stick a 2-3um patch filter. Voilà. Cheap media bottles and freebie ranch dressing.

Then I'd have to buy a drill for the "hope"...lol

Thanks though, maybe these are better, their video is intense!

https://www.amazon.com/ISOLAB-USA-Storage-Bottle-Borosilicate/dp/B092MBJSLQ

And I'm probably going to go for this agar recipe and method...

Maybe people are closing the lid, instead of having the lid open a little and that's why they cracked!?

This is my first time with grain: rye.  I'm a little iffy about the random direction spiky rhyzomorphs and top reaching stuff.  This one jar also had a few very small spots of drier, scalier looking white growth that I passed off as mycelium but could have been yeast.  I was too late getting a pic that shows it well, the mycelium is basically overlapping it now but you can almost make out some residual spots.  This is post-shake.  The other jars look fine, imo.

I think it looks pretty good nothing real alarming. The diff tan color scaling is the mycelium digging into the grain seed it kinda takes on that color I think as it's tearing through the outer layer of the grain. But that's my opinion I suppose.
