Well and the fact that higher concentration alcohol causes a layer of "scar tissue", for lack of a better word, to form on the cell membrane that then blocks further entry of the alcohol to kill the cell.

So like I was saying, I made transfers from straight rhizo and everyone was telling me it’s normal for them to grow tomentose.. however I am not sure how healthy clean tomentose growth is supposed to look like. Is this good?

Another question. I took transfers from that one petri in the picture above and it continued to grow super healthy looking. Can I still take more transfers from it or drop it in grain?

Those look like they probably have something meshed in. They might clear up after another transfer but idk.

Aside from the bacteria colonies all over, the top plate here is good tomentose.

Also if you look closely you can see how the bacteria looks hidden under the myc. Studying dirty plates like this helped me a lot with spotting weird growth when I started out.

You’re thinking of iso, something about the 30% water lets it into the cells to kill them.

Never mind. It got said.

Very nice, in a few days that plate will be looking good and worthy of grains.

Took your rating virginity

Hey Yall,

Getting started here. I streaked some plates with a Golden Teacher spore syringe almost 2 weeks ago and just did my first T1s (I think thats the correct term).

Been reading and learning more and just realized that I grabbed exclusively tomentose growth for my T1s. I didn't realize rhizo was preferred and there wasn't much anyways.

Have a look at my plates and let me know what you think. Is it worth going back to the inoculation plates and trying to grab a few T1s from the more rhizo areas?

Does it look like I atleast grabbed myc for transfers and not white mold?

Here's a few examples of what my inoculation plates look like.

And this is a good representation of what all my T1s look like after a about a day and half.

What do you guys think about these plates? The newer ones both had 3 xfers taken recently so that's why there are 3 small indents on the 2 newer plates.

Are these newer plates grain ready?

Honestly I've worked with worse, they are good to grain.

The best answer and correct one with how detail-oriented guys are is make 1 more transfer and put the grown out one to grain.

(if that's got some hidden contams, you'll most likely get fruits if that's the goal, if you want canopies maybe go 1 more out)
