so the air exchange could be the problem, that would cause the odd looking pins? also i've notice that the pins haven't grown sense that achived the size in the pics, are they aborts now? and if so what do you guys suggest i do. should i clean the cakes, dunk and start over?

they are probably aborts. if they havnt grown in 2 or 3 days. id clean, dunk and get em goin again, but get the airflow up. IE fan them alot if you dont have any other way.

alot of ppl have said the ultra sonic has contam problem i use 2 of them and just pour some h202 in the tank i havent had contam with my ultra sonic once my cakes or casing got to the stage to birth. are u using h2o2 in your ultra sonic? those pins look mighty gray and weak. im no where near a expert i have been doing this hobby for a few years and i still call my self a newbie. i dunno if this helps i figure id just let ya know what i know bout the ultra sonic

are u sure them cakes were fully healthy did the cake have a strong shroom smell cause i have came acrss alot of white contam that can fool alot of ppl i relay alot on smell if it dont smell like strong mushie sent and i have a doubt i dont use them i have seen stuff try to pin off of a contam cake

i think the airflow is the biggest prob here. id be willing to bet if you fan them a few times a day you wont have any probs assuming temps are rights and humidity is as you say.

thanks for the ultrasonic tip. and yes the cakes smelled just like fresh mushies, i mean without a doubt there was no smell beside the mushie smell.

by looking at the pics do you guys think that i'm contam or is maybe my humid to0 high/ co2 levels too high and i'm getting extra mycell growth?

is there anything that i can do to help anyone diegnose the prob?

use a 1/10 solution, thats the usual for people to use i bet less than that works fine tho but dont make it like a cap of h202 for a gallon... do like 1/15 at least

no no no, i mean DONT use like a cap size for a gallon... make a 1/15 solution at least... meaning 1 part h202 and 14 parts water making up the 1/15 solution.

Ultrasonics only provide enough air exchange if they are run continuosly. If you have it on a timer, air is only being exchanged while the unit is on. A way to help counter this is to buy a fish tank pump and hook it up like this

run it 24/7. This will do 2 things. Help keep the humidity up, and provide constant air exchange. with this type of setup you only use the ultrasonic like once every 2 hours(my setup). Of course youl have to adapt different times to run your humidifier for your own setup. It will take some trial and error, but youl get it. Patience is the key. Oh forgot to add this. It looks as if your air exchange is lacking. Improper air exchange retards mushroom cap development, resulting in small pinheadlike caps!!!

I know a guy who has pins on an outdoor grown that look pretty similar to your first picture. It is his first grow and he didn't expect them to look like that. He got his spores from a different supplier and they are of a different strain, so you can rule that out. This will probably make him feel better though, because most pictures on this site don't look like that.

thanks guys. i don't know what the hell is going on. i had another massive pin-set of the f'ed up pins. on one of the cakes i did pick all of the funky pins and was going to dunk the cake when i noticed that 2 regular looking mushies had started growing at the bottom of the cake. i'll kepp updating this thread until i get a few mushies other wise i would stiil aprecciate more comments.
