Nada. Low spot near the patch is full of water they're basically on the slope of this lowspot that's now a pond. hope it doesn't hurt it.

Found a hedgehog 2 shrimps a bunch of Laccaria and a couple clusters of Lacs.

Wahhhhh . Bummer.

I bet someone could find a few before the year closes. Can we get any of the true weilii heads to check their spot before the year ends?

Pulled a couple handfuls from my spot today on the way home from work. Theres tons of pins, so my season isnt over yet. Next time I'll take some more pics

Well I put out about a gallon of LC between today and yesterday in various locations. I buried the mixture right below the surface of the soil. Side of a hill in a pine forest, under a pile of pine limbs in grass in two locations, in various locations under pine limbs around trees affected by the beetles and on the edge of some bermuda and pine straw in a really wet/shady part of a lawn. I should see the little bastards popping up next year in one of these spots.

On a side note, I never realized how easy it was to create an LC from a wild spore print. I believe more should try it to create new patches closer to your home or at parks so other people will be able to experience finding these little guys. It’s a cool and easy project that I have read yields good results. This method has been said to be a lot more successful than just spreading spores.

I thought they were supposed to have a sort of bulbous base.here are some similar but different ones I founded in the same location..

Found 3 solitary ovoids this morning over about a 1.5 mile stretch. Each time I found one, I found a single Leratiomyces ceres within 2 feet. First 2 times I found the ovoid first. 3rd time saw Leratiomyces ceres and then just scoured the area, found a single ovoid. Pics later... if you see a dark spored red mushroom, search the area very carefully...

Where do you go about to find ovoids? Areas where creeks run into lakes and they collect debris along where the creek meets the lake? I go fishing really often and we live near the lake so I see these habitats often. From photos I have seen it looks to be in these areas where it’s a lot of exposed dirt, decaying limbs and debris, small trees(certain type of shrub/tree seems to only grow along banks that gets about 10 feet tall and has a flakey bark) and of course a creek or river. Does this seem correct?

Yeah those work, basically anywhere there is buried or rotten wood where an overflowing body of water could’ve reached that wood at some point. I’ve had all my successes come adjacent to medium to large creeks.

I see these habitats often being near Lanier and the Chattahoochee. I’ll definitely be on the lookout from now on.
