Wow congrats! I might be trying to hard lol. I'm definitely putting in the work. Definitely checking areas just like those. I had that same idea to take a little rake but I haven't gone that far yet.

Did you have any hints that they were there? If they were completely covered, what made you look? Did you spend a lot of time in one area?

I ask because I have similar areas I can go back to. I checked them on foot and spent a while walking around. But I didn't really move anything. I'm convinced that they must be in one particular area. I just know it. But I haven't found them yet.

Sweet gums and pine tree, red clay are literally everywhere at this place, but it flooded not long ago and I guess they mowed because they were under grass clippings, pine straw and sweet gum leaves and balls which hurt; It’s funny they are called landslide because the area I found them sit below this huge man made hill of red ga clay, which I tried to climb, which sent my butt right back down, resulting in a mini landslide. We found these only because one was sticking up very high, he was very mature, silver dollar size. I always look in grass by woody areas, and now I look for grass next a dirt wall, I don’t know how to describe. They bulldozed the paths, it made these dirt walls. Now I use my rake to look under leaves around downed trees, or dirt walls, or anything where water runs down to them. I found the lowest lying part of the land and I searched there. We were looking for everything honestly not just actives. So we got kind of lucky. Tomorrow I’m gonna ask my friend if I can dig through her cow crap, I  want to  see if I can find a cube. Some habitat shots...baby sweetgum, grasses, pines.


Indicator species Lacrymaria...if you see these, start looking VERY closely in the immediate area. Often they share the same patches as weilii.


And some edited weilii for fun

Those are not psilocybe caerulescens  and the title of this board clearly states NO IDENTIFICATION REQUESTS. Post in the main forum and someone will identify those for you.

Holy moly I found a site that fit the bill and as ton of lacrymaria! I looked so close but still not the grand prize. I want to go back and search longer. Or I wonder if someone beat me to it?

Finally had a small breakthrough but was only finding pins all day. I'm skeptical they're legit and sadly won't be able to get back to the area for a while to double check, but finding anything at all remotely close has given me the itch to really hunt again.



Anyone think I might be on the right track?

In town visiting family and friends and the timing is perfect! Habitat shot shows how close to the sidewalk this was.
