its not impossible to send a care package to another family on the other side of the globe. any effort helps, large or small. its about helping humans, it doesnt matter what their home address is.

lets say you give help to homeless in NYC or LA, and no matter how much you help you really dont make a huge dent in grand scheme of things, but you know you helped a few. how is that any different than helping someone in another state, or time-zone, or nation? its not like you are guna solve the homelessness issues all by yourself.

Because sending a package and then forgetting about it doesn't have the same impact as dealing with real issues with real people in your own community.

Why search out human need when there's plenty right in your own community?  Why send packages thousands of miles away with no idea of where it's going instead of dealing with real people in your own community?

Religious organizations pull the same bullshit with their followers, taking their money and claiming to help people in some foreign land while ignoring people in their local community.

Some people don't have the money to send a package so they donate their own time, that happens at the local level.

and some people care more about bringing attention to the current humanitarian crisis at the border than they care about handing out bowls of soup in their own communities.. to each their own

its great that you want to help people locally.

its not great that folks find it so easy to bash others for wanting to help people that do not reside in their community.

This thread is sorta stupid.  They deport people all the time.  It's simply fascists to try and outright purge a country.  First it's 'illegals', then what next?

If the native Americans had deported illegals, none of us would be here.

The Native Americans failed to defend their homeland and looked at what happened to them.

The US has the ability to protest its borders and deport illegals, therefore we should exercise that power to preserve our nation and not end up like the Native Americans.

Israel can do whatever they choose to control their immigration.

Cuccinelli is a climate change denier who in 2017 joined a coalition to deregulate the energy supply market in VA.  He did this under the guise that it would spur competition from other companies--presumably including companies working with renewables--and innovation that would lower energy costs for Virginians.

This was seemingly a grand turnaround for someone who subpoenaed scientists while serving as Virginia's attorney general in pursuit of a bogus lawsuit.  It was a civil lawsuit which accused a UVA professor of fraud and sought to block federal research funding simply because cuccinelli didn't like the results of previous research that demonstrated the changes, and warming, of earth's climate.  A VA judge ruled against cuccinelli in his witch hunt which asserted that a global coalition of climate scientists was conspiring to commit fraud by fudging numbers to give the illusion of global climate change; it was a waste of taxpayers' money from the start and seemingly everyone but Kenny knew it.

It was after wasting Virginians' money with his failed fraud accusations that ken campaigned for energy deregulation. Such deregulation has resulted in real fraud in several states.  Being from the NE, you might be familiar with the problems both Massachusetts & Connecticut experienced after deregulation of their energy sectors.

But, cuccinelli didn't have major change of heart and philosophy when he championed deregulating VA's energy market. Instead this climate change denier turned would-be environmentalist had just begun working with a lobbying firm whose clients included companies that stood to make money should VA's energy market be deregulated.

He's the kind of shady politician, attorney, and lobbyist who would have his religion dictate public policy while his greed drives his deceptive philosophy.

What I've written is just the tip of the cuccinelli iceberg.  I despise his kind.

Well, that's gonna cost...About 3/4ths of the US operating budget for a year. As a conservative estimate.

Right. And we're going to make a big show of deporting them, but do very little to effectively stop millions of new ones from coming in.

Build the wall.

Catch and release into Mexico.

Stop legal immigration. Mexico disproportionately ruined it for the rest of the word because they come illegally.

Stop chain migration.

Close the borders until we get a hold on this thing.

No?

Okay, no.

Joe Biden will clean it up.

He is going to save the world from destruction, cure racism, and magically stop illegal immigration with drones.

Trump hasn’t. He’s a failure at the border. Massive.

Trump is not doing as well as Obama in job growth either.

trade deficit up. Budget deficit up.

Besides the racist rhetoric what are you getting?

For me, it's not About what I am getting.

In fact, I don't want anything (other than safety from Invaders) from the government and I don't want to give the government much of my money. Paying for state maintenance is enough.

I want the government to get out of business of fixing social issues.

One thing I like from Trump is the repeal of the individual mandate. Also downsizing  government regulations and so forth.

Fuck the government -- the states can do their own zoning.

We don't need a big brother.

Of course!

But there is an important dichotomy to note.

Federal government is an entity that overrules the 50 states.

In one scenario you have one big federal government that overrides all the state rights. In the other you have 50 different governments that are protected from foreign invasion by the federal government.

The difference is large.

I err on the side of 50 states of Democratic experiments rather than one sweeping government.

That is, don't put all your eggs in one basket.
