The thing is, asylum is when a catastrophe happens (war included). It isn't the case for america/europe asylum seekers. Most of them are running away because economic reasons.

I mean, my situation in spain is awful. i work 60+h/week and i barely pay the rent. Should i seek american asylum? because i cannit. What if i were homeless and with cancer? should i go to america to get the best doctors to treat me and to get a nice home and a nice job? nope, i had to fix it myself in this country.(and thank god here we have free healthcare).

If you open your borders to immigration i want a piece of cake too. I want the american freedom and the american dream.

Exactly, being eligible for political asylum as a genuine refugee is extremely rare.

Living in extreme poverty as the result of a corrupt government  does not meet the standard, you're still an economic migrant and therefore not eligible for political asylum.

Half wingnut, half accurate.

Asylum laws are very broad. If you can show any type of political or social discrimination that prevents you from getting a job, you can get asylum. Of course, reality and law are usually different, and in reality, you're probably just gonna end up in a concentration camp on the border.

Omg you can’t call it a concentration camp. That’s antisemeric and antiamerican.

Is that what the verdict was for this thread? I didn't pay attention for a while.

How about "Internment camp"? That's nice and American. And not pre-WWII American, like the term "concentration camp", but during-WWII American, so it's patriotic!

Anyone else think the point of the concentration camps down south is as a time bomb for about two decades from now?

We're generating emotionally and psychologically damaged kids by the thousands, and we're keeping them here instead of deporting them. In public, sure, Republicans will talk about deportation, but none of those deportations are happening. Why?

It's a political tool. These kids will grow up, emotionally and psychologically damaged, and will likely not become functional members of society. Sure, some, or potentially even most, will be somewhat functional. However, a good percentage of them will not adjust to life in the country where they were imprisoned for their formative years. They will be anti-social. They will resent what was done to them.

And they will likely be criminals.

This is a future crime wave perpetrated by Mexican immigrants being engineered by republicans, who desperately need new people to join their party. Fear of black people has been played out, now we need fear of brown people. What better way than to create a large group of emotionally damaged people that will spend their 20s committing violent crimes?

This is why deportations are down from the Obama years. donald and the GOP are deporting fewer people because they need them here. They need a future scapegoat.

LOL!!!!

This genius had the nerve to claim that something I said was conspiracy ramblings

Just another perfectly good brain damaged by partisan politics. Liberal hysteria is every bit as inane and willfully deceptive as conservative hysteria. Enjoy life in the Matrix!

Awesome burn, dude.

I’m not the author of an imbecilic thread ranting against immigration measures and feeling like I’m doing good in the world.

How about we end the camps and make all you brave crusaders act as host families for the duration of the immigrants’ asylum cases?

You can feed, clothe, and house the immigrants. It will make you feel even better about yourselves than whining anonymously on the internet, posting noble tirades that only 30 people will ever read.

Opinions change real fast when people find out that they’ll be slightly inconvenienced once their courageous beliefs are made an actuality

BTW- This thread should be in conspiracies, not politics

https://thehill.com/blogs/blog-briefing-room/news/456936-pope-francis-cautions-against-nationalism-says-recent-political

"Pope Francis said Friday that migrants should be integrated into society and that nationalism is an 'attitude of isolation'"

What a piece of shit this guy is, why doesn't he pay for these migrants that invade Western nations?  No, he wants the native citizens to foot the bill for his delusional ideology.

also, why do you insist that migrants are coming to america to drain someones bank account?

welfare programs are in place to help people less fortunate than others.

helping others seems to piss you off.

The third world migrants invading the US/EU are poor with no skills or education. The taxpayer must fund their existence for the most part. The West already has plenty of poor people, we don't need anymore.

"Welfare programs"

Funded by the native taxpayers are meant for citizens, not the entire world that is attempting to escape poverty.

I'm not against helping the less fortunate, but what do you think happens to poor US/EU citizens when their homelands are flooded with broke third world migrants?    They suffer, why don't you care about them?

Can't get welfare if you're illegal. And if you get welfare as a non-citizen legal resident, then you can kiss any chance of citizenship goodbye. Using welfare is a disqualifying factor for citizenship.

You're right, qman. We don't;t help the less fortunate. We help the people that put them there. The same people that want globalization keep getting welfare payments. donald's tax scam is a prime example. Another great example would be those ICE raids the other day. You know hiring illegals is a crime with a fine of 5k per person, right? I wonder why none of those employers got arrested during the raids. But all those illegal workers that just won a settlement for bad working conditions? They're gone.

Poor Americans are gonna stay poor until they realize that nobody gives a fuck about them, especially Republicans.

I agree, arrest and charge the employers of the illegals. That's why Trump is nothing more than a joke when it comes to immigration.
