You know what’s crazy I went years working keeping to myself never pursuing any type or romantic and cultivated a small group of close friends. About 6, 7 years ago I met my ex at work and she nearly fucking destroyed my life. So I made promise to myself never to go down that road of really opening myself up to people from work.

You ain't kidding around about keeping work separate from your personal life. I learned that you have to be careful about whom you tell what or it can cause problems that can have serious consequences, most of the time it's best to keep some shit to yourself.

Date her but don’t give her the ammunition. If she starts going crazy immediately dump her.

yea man, you have to conceal a lot of your personal life from people at work, especially if you're a Shroomery member haha. :mushroom2:
I NEVER date people I work with.  It's just not worth the potential damage that can come after breaking up.

There are genuine people out there.  Trustworthy people who you can tell all to. But you can't find them without wading through the oceans of shit cunts first.

Unfortunately I keep missing those legit genuine people I’m sure a lot of it is my own fault.

It's a numbers game, like so much else when it comes to getting what you really want.

If you speak to ten people, you'd be lucky to find a really good one. If you speak to a hundred, then there's very likely one in there somewhere.

IMO, you'll find the good ones more easily/quickly if you display your vulnerabilities, rather than hide them. Doesn't mean to be weak, or to let people take advantage, but there's a strength in doing so and it inspires others.

Adults don't care about other adults problems when in comparison their own problems are real. I've abandoned friends for being depressed complainers. Maybe it's terribly mean or something but at some point people stop caring. I don't know the whole story but that's my $0.02. ask yourself if you'd be friends with you.

Im talking about people that are ohhh woe is me can't hold down a job and rent is hard to do and i can't get a significant other. Cool dude I have friends with cancer, and friends with kids that have issues etc.. people that actually need support.

I can relate, lots of people stopped talking to me when I had my stroke,  when I would see them and ask why they would have a variety of excuses. The one that got me the most was "man, I just didn't want to see you like that, I didn't know what to say".

It's not that I wanted anyone to say anything in particular, it was and is knowing that you care enough to at least say hello or stopped by or something, anything other than nothing if we were really friends.

Have you considered that this friend didn't know how to respond or what to say? Don't write them off just yet.

I know what you are talking about,  I shared some personal information with my neighbor of 20yrs, after confiding in him he all the sudden turned against me and started causing me trouble.

It started in early 2006, oxycontin was all in the news about its responsibility in over dose deaths, crime and addiction, I had been taking it for several years but decided to stop and try to live without it.

After a nasty 45 days of hell I was released from the hospital, my neighbor of course noticed that I had been gone for a long time and asked me what was up. I told him the truth and I knew instantly that I had made a mistake.

This guy was so freaked out that I had been taking that drug that his whole demeanor changed immediately,  like someone had just rubbed shit on my face and he just saw it. From that day on he and his wife have treated me like I have the plague.  These people have the nerve to call the cops on me for everything, for example,  I had my gallbladder removed one week and the 2nd week I had to have my knee reconstructed due to injuries,  these bastards called the code enforcement cops on me because I didn't cut the grass for 2wks and everything else they can think of to harass me.

I learned a valuable lesson from that experience, and it helped me to understand that I didn't really have friends that I could trust with intimate secrets and to be careful with whom I share things that can be damaging or possibly detrimental, you never know when someone will try to use the things you've said/done against you.

Aw bro, order than neighbour a pizza on me
