Tossing contam spawn outside?

This is probably a controversial question  and I'm good to go either way with it, but what I'm thinking is I have no problem starting over new bag and colonizing this is just one of many of us failed but also could not I throw this out in a field and  and In time have a mycelium matt outside making me shrooms when the conditions are right. Or is this not possible because it's contaminated right now from the start with mold? Well not not possible but going to produce vad fruit if any?

Personally, I'd throw that mess in the garbage without opening the bag.  It looks like it's almost all mold, you don't want to breathe any of that.

Open it in a bucket of water outside so the mold doesn't go airborne and stick to your clothes. Then tip it on a compost heap n bury it

I've either boiled or microwaved (depending on the container) my contaminated jars before opening, to minimize the chance that whatever's growing in there spreads elsewhere. If you can dump it outside far from where you grow, it might be fine, but I think the risk of having trich / other contaminants getting at your future spawn far outweighs the cost of giving up on a contaminated jar or bag now.

As long as you have healthy spawn it really shouldn't matter though

Yeah, and having mold spores floating around your apartment / house is a great way to not have clean spawn. If you're working with a flow hood, it's less of an issue, but I'm assuming the OP isn't there yet.

Seems sketchy to me rather not risk it just to maybe fucking make my whole neighborhood city. I live i suburbs so spores would go in pols lawn n shit and it could be a problematic

Clean spawn is very resistant to mold and contams.

You already do have mold spores floating around everywhere.

Do you spawn to bulk under a flow hood? Probably not.

Indeed there are already some, which is why we use an SAB or flowhood, I'm just suggesting not making it worse by allowing more mold to keep growing. And my concern here isn't spawning to bulk, it's things like a2g and g2g inoculation, where extra mold spores in the air will directly increase the rate of contaminated spawn. But anyway, we can agree to disagree here - I just don't see the benefit in trying to save contaminated spawn if it could even slightly increase the risk of bad spawn in the future.

You got a point man.  Uncolonized grain is definitely not contam resistant.

Kinda semantics at this point, but your right.


Honestly if it were me I would throw it away as well.

Ha, yes they is. That's why we go ape shit on them and get into long and heated debates about whether or not to look at the trash as you take it out.
I just wanted to chime in on the spore load debate. To be clear, I DO NOT UNDERSTAND HOW THIS WORKS, but, I do have an uncomfortable number of absolutely triched out tubs in my garage. i should go take a picture for you but... believe me, they are crazy looking contam bonanzas. I set tubs in the garage if they trich out on me mid flush. These tubs went out with a tiny bit of trich on them and i had to leave town. they are gnarly now...


anyways, the point of all this rambling is this; I have very successful grows going on in very near proximity to the highest spore load that is possible outside a vacuum. The garage bone is connected to the kitchen bone... living room... hallway... mush room. One door seperates. one door to bind them.

i think that folks don't understand this shit as much as they think they do (myself included) roger used to say that he grew some where with visible black mold growing on the walls... i still try to get tubs out if i see them going wrong and don't open fucked jars in the house but, I dump shit in the back yard that literally makes a green fucking cloud when it hits the ground.
