Spraying Mycelium in compost colonization

Lets say I had a few trays of spawn and compost mixed together. I cover both trays and set in chamber in dark at 95%rh and mid 80's. I always have problems with my compost and casing layer drying on me.......is it ok to open the cover off the trays and spray the mycl. and knots shooting up directly and knocking them down every day? Once it seems moist enough, should I just stop misting and let lem fully colonize and then case or just birth the compost?
If I case the compost, do I let that sit covered in dark as well until fully colonized and same questions about spraying the colonizing mycel. coming up. Thanks.
