Slow Compost, What to do?

I think when I spawned my compost I used a little to little spawn. So now theres several places colonizing, and the compost is inbetween. Should I mix this up now that theres more mycelium, to make it grow faster? Or will that mess up the mycelium network and set me back longer (or let contamns set in?)? Thanks alot
