How is the realty of climate change not painfully obvious by now? Despite all the talk about polar vortexes, only one state was colder than average. 26 states were warmer than average. 1/3 of those were significantly warmer.

AOC isn’t even old enough to vote in the senate.

Do we not educate students at all about how government works anymore?

Then this headline is very misleading.

Ok so climate change is a problem. I don’t think instituting communism is a real good solution.

You may want to learn the difference between the house and the senate.

That article is two months old and has nothing to do with the senate vote on the green new deal

I don’t give a shit. The point is she doesn’t support her own bill. None of the democrats do. They just made it for show. Three democrats voted against it. That’s the point. It’s a disaster and no one takes it seriously.

She supports the idea, but the bill was so poorly written that everyone is running from it. The reason I brought it up is that it highlights the widening chasm within the Democratic Party. The old school business style democrats seem to be strongly disagreeing with the new AOC style democrats.

Vault123 is the Donald president of the shroomery. He doesn’t know what he’s talking about but makes it sound like he’s got it all figured out. Dunning & Krueger would be impresses.

This is the one:

https://thehill.com/policy/energy-environment/436171-democrats-to-move-on-from-green-new-deal

So I got the description wrong initially, but this is the event I was referring to.

This is a significant development in the proposed legislation and I think it should be mentioned. The Green New Deal lasted a lot longer then I thought it would, but it appears that this is how it ends.

I'm sorry I have no idea what you're referring to here. I just wanted to bring up the most recent development in the Green New Deal. I apologize for not looking more closely into it before posting about it I just heard the headline and wanted to get it out there.

If you would please excuse me I would like to mention the Green New Deal was voted down. Democrats are blaming this on the most Hawkish Turtle to ever grace the Chamber.

It was a bullshit vote trying to get ammo against the democrats for the upcoming election. To me it says more about how desperate the republicans are than anything else.

Please share your source. I would like to read or hear about how republicans are the ones that are desperate right now.

From what I can see between Russia, Jussie Smollett, and now this to me it appears that democrats are the ones on the back foot. So if you have a source that can inform me better, I would love to see it.

As a spinnable story, this works great for both sides.

Republicans can make fun of Dems for not supporting the GND.

Democrats can spin it as a show of solidarity against McConnels cynical ploy to divide them.

From a macro level, I think it's a wash.

I don't think the Green New Deal is dead though. It's an idea that's been around for thirteen years.

"An early use of the term "Green New Deal" was by journalist Thomas Friedman.[8] He argued in favor of the idea in two pieces that appeared in The New York Times and The New York Times Magazine.[9][10] In January 2007, Friedman wrote... "

If you really thought the world was going to end in 12 years, and this was the way to stop it all I can say is you had better vote for it.
