Many reasons.

But a lot of it had to do with how hard the Dems and their party started going left.

People like Obama still talked about deportations and borders, which made him palatable.

But then things changed. When Trump was elected there was no going back for me. The Dems went bat shit crazy and showed their true colors.

Now Beto wants to tear down the existing. Wall, they want to take our cars and air travel, They want to give the government more power, Hilary calls Americans deplorable,  they define privilege by skin color, men are now toxic, they think always believing the woman is logical, and  the left can't stop calling everyone and everything racist

It's a party of intersectionality that ranks your worth based on how "oppressed" you. The victimhood culture is not appealing to me.


Tl;Dr?

They don't connect with anything I believe in anymore.

I used to be a liberal until they started doing liberal things and that really made me mad so now I’m part of the far right.


Just more of this bs narrative about how democrats went crazy by not catering explicitly to white nationalists, and how they need to get more racist in order to win.

Everyone over the age of 20 will famously remember how Obama galvanized the country and got elected with a supermajority by *checks notes* appealing to Republicans.



Let me be as clear as I can:  Democrats are moving left ONLY BECAUSE the electorate is moving left.  Even then they are doing a shit job. That’s why the GOP blocks bills on campaign finance reform, they cut taxes on the rich to ensure campaign funding, gerrymander districts, purge voters, etc. Their ideas don’t win on merit anymore so they need to ignore them and instead scare people like you into thinking that Mexicans will come kill them if they don’t vote GOP. Or that Democrats will ban cars. And even then they still lose the popular vote by millions lol, to historically terrible candidates like Hillary. I won’t even get into the stolen SCOTUS seat now occupied by a perjuring rapist.

Conservatism lost in the marketplace of ideas. It clings on purely due to support from the corporate agenda, voter suppression, and fearmongering.

Yeah, a lot of Republicans don't even realize that a Republican hasn't won the most votes for president since... Reagan?

Republicans win by electoral vote, and gerrymandering. People are getting wise to that fact though. I'm really hoping the country turns its focus to the electoral college in the coming years.

The Democratic party voting process is also highly rigged. Super Tuesday, super delegates, and now, they can simply denounce a candidate unfavorable to the elite as 'not a democrat'.

The corrupt elite in this country are terrified of the left. We are the only real threat to power. We are the only means by which workers will ever be empowered.

I think we should focus on class over race, as it IS more unifying. But ignoring what the right calls “identity politics” (acknowledging problems that don’t apply to straight white Christian men) is a slap in the face to those groups. And for what? The off chance that some republicans will suddenly vote democrat? Nah. Like I said, Bernie doesn’t need those people’s votes to win.

And just to round out this point, this idea that qman (and the beltway pundits) push about how Democrats need to move right in order to win is absolute horseshit, and only serves the interests of the ruling class.

40% of voting age citizens don’t vote. Bernie’s message is engaging those people. Why should we ignore nearly half the country in order to appeal to Republicans, who, and lets be absolutely clear, ARE GOING TO VOTE REPUBLICAN.



Yes. What constitutes identity politics is in the eye of the beholder. Same as everything else. Who's a snowflake? Whoever I oppose. What's fake news? Whatever news the other side believes.

    I believe we are post-truth, which has always been a central tenet of postmodernism.

You asked me why I changed from the Democrat to republican and then started ranting about how racist and dumb conservatives are.

You are a prime example of why I left the Democrats.

The Dems are obsessed with calling people racists. It's especially gross because they call entire swaths of people racist without knowing who they even are.

I am in a minority on the shroomery, as I frequently defend the opposing side when they have a point about something or when my side make believes something about them.  I also attack my side if I think they're wrong.  People here get very confused by that and think it means I prefer the other side.
