I might not be understanding the yeast reproductive cycle well enough, but from my understanding, you never really have an isolate in a same manner as you would have with mycelium, since yeast will reproduce and genetics will shuffle over time. Surely, they might be quite stable, but it's not like the same DNA in the whole yeast culture?

Please correct me if I'm wrong.

Yeast are polyploid more specifically they're aneuploid. They quickly repair any damages or mutations to their genetic structure. So a culture of yeast is basically 100% homogeneous pool of the same yeast same genetics. The only difference is cell age basically in your batches of brewing yeast.

The first genetics to break with the least protection are the mitochondrial dna. You'll see what are called respiratory mutants(petites) and even that's extremely rare and 99% chance its the first mutation youll see in brewing yeast strains.
