So I was thinking...
    #25671209 -

Hi everyone,

Being Indian and coming from a Hindu background and upbringing (not that I consider myself Hindu), I was thinking of a deity known as "Lord Shiva" earlier today.
He is regarded as the Lord of Destruction, and 1/3 of the Hindu trinity of Supreme Gods, the other two being Lord Brahma (god of creation) and Lord Vishnu (lord of preservation).
Basically the story goes that these three beings are perpetually and eternally exerting their cosmic forces simultaneously throughout the universe.
Things are eternally being created, maintained, and destroyed.
These three cosmic forces are said to pervade all of existence.
Anyway, there are many different things sacred to each of these three deities, including stones, minerals, metals, plants, mantras, etc.
Marijuana is said to be especially sacred to Lord Shiva The Destroyer, and is considered as prasad (spiritual food).
Also, in pictures and statues of him as Lord Nataraj (the cosmic dancer) he has many datura flowers tied to the ends of his hair.
So I was thinking that maybe to inherit some of Lord Shiva's divine qualities, I should begin smoking a combination of marijuana and datura flowers.
I used to smoke marijuana occasionally, but never have I mixed it with datura flowers and smoked them together.
If anyone has any thoughts on all of this stuff I would love to hear them, and would appreciate it greatly.
Thanks

 Greetings happiness... It's funny that you are Indian but don't consider yourself Hindu, and yet I am Polish, but consider myself Hindu (ish). My first thought is that you should use shorter paragraphs when you post because it makes it hard to read -I'm not judging, just sayin'...

Religious tradition can be good, but spiritual experience is better. The Hindu tradition can teach one many things, but realize that those teachings are guide-posts -not literal rules or ridged concepts. Mixing pot with your spiritual concepts is not something I would recommend, but I don't tell people what to do. But putting datura into the equation is a bad idea, and that is something I tell everyone.

The chemicals in datura (scopolamine, hyoscyamine etc,) will totally screw your mind, regardless of whatever god or gods you intended to invoke. If you like having a sharp memory/ intellect, then you will forget about datura as an aid to your spiritual growth. Datura is a big lie -don't mess with it. Maybe you will listen to me maybe not -it's your life after all. But from what I have seen it do to people I say don't bother, it teaches nothing, it just takes and takes without giving.
Wishing you only the best friend. -

I believe you should read more about datura's psychoactive effects before undergoing this experiment. Religious rituals can have spiritual value, but there are very real physiological risks to smoking or ingesting datura. I cannot in good conscience recommend this to another person. I'm sure there are plenty of other devotional exercises to Shiva that one can do that are not as detrimental to one's mind.

Like a volcano Shiva doesn't give two hoots about who or what it destroys, as in a power struggle then, it's not personal-it's business.

Thank you for this vague and totally unrelated piece of information.

Now if anyone else has a direct response to my inquiry that would be really nice, thanks.
