Do mushroom experiences adversely affect dedicated athletes?
    #25541916 -

To a lot of people this will seem like a stupid question and maybe it is.  If shroom experiences may result in a more relaxed attitude toward life, what happens to the drive and motivation of a serious (older) athlete?  In my case, it is tennis, but do you see shroomers running marathons or triathlons?  I hope the flamethrowers will hold their fire so someone can try to answer whether there is any validity to my admittedly naive concern.  Thanks.

Uhm, no.  In any case, I've always seen enhanced physical performance, and training becomes easier and more productive.  I would say your concerns are completely groundless.

i actually experience enhanced physical strength on shrooms, once the initial come up and lethargy/clumsiness is over. far less pain and far far more flexibility too.

and yeah, shrooms give you a relaxed attitude toward life - toward things that don't matter. in things that do matter to you, you won't lose that drive - far from it. some people have quit smoking or alcohol after taking shrooms, because quitting and having better health was important to them and the shrooms helped give them the drive to quit.

the worst thing shrooms might do is make you more attuned to your body and possibly cut back on your training, from sensing you've overtaxed some muscles and need to rest and let them heal.

While tripping an athlete might ponder how ridiculous and trivial sports competition is. You might laugh at how seriously people take the whole thing. But when you come down everything will be back to normal. You'll have more dimension and depth to the thoughts that go through your mind and that might actually help performance. It's a good thing.

Mushrooms don't change people, change comes from people making realizations and implementing or integrating them is a conscious choice.

Change comes from within.

Same here!....Tremendously so!

I too experience a very lethargic and sedating come up/first phase of the trip...but around 90 minutes or so after dosing this tends to fade away for me and transitions into a different "phase" (within the span of about 1 minute), and I end up feeling super enhanced in just about every way possible.

Nothing else comes anywhere close to giving me the energy and stamina and flexibility and mental sharpness that mushrooms do during the 2nd phase and later portion of the trip. And it feels totally "natural". It's not like I'm stimulated on an amphetamine or anything, I'm very calm and tranquil but I have an immense amount of internal energy/stamina/focus if I choose do to something active....I can just go & go & go with out ever becoming short of breathe or feeling worn out.

Like you could play soccer or baseball and be coordinated enough while tripping to actually play good. Like while your questioning the meaning on playing sports and seeing faces in the grass?

Mountain biker here, it really allows me to connect with the flow of the ride better. I have been riding bikes for 47 years and that helps too. LOL.
