I don't think that this is what makes the difference, because psilocybin is conferted into psilocin afetr ingestion anyways...only the speed in which it starts t act may be different...
I think other trytamiones are the reason for the different trips or something lese that we don't understand

You must remember that each individual mushroom has different amounts of chemicals within each specimen and are different in content than the one next to it.

Of course five or six mushrooms or twenty to forty liberty caps may have a common potency as a whole but would still have all four or five active compounds (psilocine, psilocybine, norbaeocystine, norbaeocystine, aeruginascine, etc) working within with each other to make the high.

Beug and bigwood found a variance of from four to ten in several differennt species of shrooms.

Even Stijve of Nestles analysed the Copelandia species as I mentioned above and their are diferences between the potencies of various collections from various origins around the world.

Ten people could analyse a single collection each and each one would come up with a four different chemicals amounts to create the potency for the species.

This is already evident in hundreds of analyses of Psilocybe cubensis which has been analysed more than any other species, except maybe claviceps purpurea.

I think that cyanescens are the most potent. the body and head high tyou get off of them is amazing. I think it depends on the person for the amount some people I have talked to have eaten 40 caps and some have eaten 3 and got high. I have never got high on just three before but I know people that have. I have to take about 20-25 caps to get a hella good buzz.~Shroomy~Dru

In response to your post, P. Cyanescens are most definitely among the most potent, however, did you know that your wasting a great deal of the the mushroom if you only eat the cap? Eat the stem too.

I usually pawn off caps to friends and only eat stems. Much easier on my stomach, or at least I have it in my head that it is. I bet I haven't eaten a dried cap for about 12 years other than in chocolates.

are these mushrooms fully mature? id say it only takes me about 4 MAYBE 5 full grown p. cayanesence to have an intense trip. maybe its because i ate the stems too though...

MJshroomer, what about the mexicana ?
Since it is the most revered by all the indians of Mexico among the other species (and you know that they have a good choice there !) i wonder why nobody reports any experience or potency report. After all, isn't it the most sacred psilocybe in the history of the humanity ?

All thye 40 or so species used by all Indians of Mesoamerica and possibly Central America are considered sacred.

Teh P. mexicana is sought after as a source of peaceful energies and tranquility. In the PNW, the liberty cap high is very similar.

It is comical (Duendes, clowns), terms used to describe experiences while under the influence of P. mexicana, magical interdimensions in space and time, doorways into enchanted places. Empathy, and quite a pleasant coloful visual experience. This is what liberty caps do, as do the P. mexicana.

i totally agree with the above.
But i was wondering where Mexicana could be, on the psilocine/psilocybine scale...a little more potent than Semilanceata i think.......?

I had a few friends from out of town stop by a couple days ago.
I gave them all some dried Cyans from my gathering this last season.
I told them to let me know how their trip was.

One guy was a hawaiian from Maui...he said he hadn't had any mushrooms since he was in Hawaii years ago.
He started talking about that one ranch that you used to pick the Copelandia cyanescens at. :smile:
The hawaiian guy was huge...6'6" and about 380 pounds...he ate 4 dry grams of Cyans and tripped his balls off.

The 2 others were much smaller guys.
One was 5'10" and about 175 pounds.
The other was 5'8" and about 160 pounds.
I gave them 2 dried grams each...and they tripped their balls off pretty hard.

Last year I gave Donny(my old room mate) 2 dry grams and he was watching cartoons for hours...and the TV was off.

I'm saving the rest of my Cyans from this past year for Potency tests.
I'm going to see how many years they stay potent.
It should be interesting to see how long they actually stay potent.

I know there is a lack of research on Psilocybe Aucklandii, but this is a fairly potent mushroom. Quite comparable to Psilocybe Subauerginosa.
I remember once eating 4 fresh Aucklandii and having a stronger than expected trip.

The benefit to having a less potent mushroom is that you have more ability to regulate the level of trip that you want. While eating one gram of Ps. Cyanescens might get you nice visuals, compared with 4.0 grams of Ps. Cubensis, a accidental weighing error of .25 grams of cyans would be like eating another gram of cubensis. I prefer pan cyans and p. cubensis as the easiest to work with for dosing. Pan cyans ground up dried make great 00 capsules at about .5g per capsule, so it's 1 for a nice buzz, two for a REALLY nice heavy buzz, and three for liftoff.

My interest in the wood loving psilocybes stems mainly from my life-long desire to have a freezer filled with top-quality entheogens, both natural and man made. Next spring I plan on making vast numbers of outdoor beds of these mushrooms just to spread their genetics around.

You're quite right. But there's also a benefit to more potent mushrooms - having to eat less. When it comes to higher levels of tripping, it can be easier on the body/digestive system to be dealing with a smaller amount of material. That and you don't have to force down as much (unless you grind them up and put them in capsules).

Psilocybe weilii is the most potent shroom i have ever consumed.
Weilii potency can be out of this world, especially when eaten fresh.
They blow Copelandia mushrooms away.

i agree with mj with p.cyans. i've picked 40 grams fresh which equals to maybe 4g dry? but we ate them fresh, divided by 5 person. then let another 7 of my friends tried same amount 40g wet. all that have eaten p.cyans said they were strong.

I took ~1.75 grams of p. cyanescens  and probably took me up to level 3.. visuals, auditory senses enhanced and moving objects.. and colors of course.. with p. Cubensis I took about 3 grams and really screwed my trip ..maybe level.. I say buy cyanescens and take half of the baggie and save the other for later and you get your money's worth.. or just take the whole 1/8 and goodluck hehe
