Survey: Why do YOU use mushrooms?

People use caffeine to start the day and as a 'pick me up'. Alcohol to relax and generally 'feel good'. Aspirin to relieve pain, ect...

Most drugs serve a particular purpose for the consumer. For months, I've been wondering why my fellow shroomerites use the mushroom?

Do you just enjoy the effects (cevs, sensory distortions, ect.) - is this amusing for you? Do you use mushrooms just to get fucked up and laugh with your friends at parties? Is the mushroom sacred to you, is the experience spiritual in nature, do you partake to understand a deeper reality?

Why do you use mushrooms?

First, I used shrooms because I never had before.

Now, I use shrooms because I find it to be a most fun and enjoyable experience. I'm not going to lie to myself and say I use them to learn more about myself, or because it's sacred. I have a great respect for anyone who does use them for those purposes, by the way.

I use them because it's fun sometimes to just sit in a room with a few good friends and be able to completely get away from the outside world. To laugh, cry, and talk about the meaning of life (or the importance of trees and colors).

I do them for exploration of the unknown, mystical experiences , a feeling of unity with nature, and sometimes just for fun.

they help me to become that elve in that other world :)
they teach me to see the world with the eyes of a newborn..
they open my mind for the beauty of the night....
they give me the energy to dance myself free...
they give me the magic to dream a night with my loved one
they let me and my friends giggle in the woods
they sometimes make me fear or teach me a hard lesson
they let me talk or listen to voices that aren't mine
they let me see the spirtits in all
and so much more

I was pulled towards them through dreams, now I have them,,,, I eat them heavily alone at least once every 2 months..and give them away 10 fold.....Why the mushrooms called me I still do not know, but I indulge and learn more of myself each time...But the reason I use mushrooms is still unknown to me, only that I dreamt of the mushroom for over a year, the mushrooms are using me................

I use them primarily to give my mind the tools to look at the universe in a way that I can't normally. The wonder and delight I feel on a good trip are amazing. Then, I get to wake up the next day and say "Holy shit! That was fucking incredible!" Mushrooms help me to shed all of the bullshit I naturally acquire over time.

I'm really impressed with the responses in this thread. I also find the experience fun, enjoyable, a chance to experience the unknown, with wonder and delight.

A feeling of 'unity' with nature has been an underlying theme of my experiences, I believe I have become more appreciative of aesthetics and the natural order of things, many others come to realize this also through time.

I also enjoy the experience of just 'getting away from the outside world' with a few close friend and discuss the meaning of life as stated earlier by trendal.

For me, it turns me on to a deeper persepective of reality, one which is not neccesarilly available to us in or normal waking consciousness, or just filtered out in our normal state. Mushrooms indeed awakens consciousness to the mystical[/] rhythm of the universe.

Prellgot describes this experience with poetic justice, a truly beautiful description!

I guess I started this post because i've started to feel a little confused about my relationship with the mushroom. When I first started taking mushrooms it was originally out of curiosity, like most people I assume. Then started a long rapport with my mushroom friend, not so much as a learning experience or a chance to gain insight, but more of a chance to 'alter' reality and be amused by it - sort of entertainment, like going to the amusement park.

This was long ago when I was younger and a little, well, less wise than now. I still partake in the mushroom experience, but for different reasons now. I went through this guilty phase in which I felt I was 'using' the mushroom for the wrong reasons, this felt bad, like I was disrespecting this entheogen. Well, I still use shrooms on occasion in a recreational/social setting and I'm having trouble with this wondering if I should be using them in this way or not?

Fantastic question. There are only so many experiences atht your brain can hold, and tripping will help u reach that point. Its like standing on the shoulders of giants, you can see much further.

Adventures, hallucinations. The mushrooms are the only drug that makes you feel heaps good even the next day. They seem to give me incredible amount of energy for days. I feel like all new every time after the trip. I seem to learn more about things around me. After all I am trying to get things to start talking to me as I want to know what a tree or a wall have to say. I am trying to go into a fairy tail.

Once you do mush if you haven't seen shit in a reality before you will then, and learn to keep it in your mind. The fact that you can walk around in a dream and what you want is their in front of your eyes. There's no problems and this new found reality hints at other things. Things which once might have seemed so bizaare now are taken into consideration. Ignarence is nullified and snubbed out and if it ain't, somebody got a real problem admitting to themselves how this shit is. The frame of mind of, "hey that might actually be true" is the new sense of well being with ones self. An overwhelming sense which one day our evolutionary paths will some day adopt.

Yo about that Prelgott quote, well's here's what I's says. Just my oppinion brother but hey to me its just a fuckin mushroom if you use it for fun then ok. If you use it for a studying tool then ok. Don't worry just don't do it for reasons that are not your own.
