possible psilocybin mushroom found in Bend, Or. * 1
    #25539876 -

It been years since I've hunted mushrooms. Used to pick brown grocery bags full of cyanescens in Humboldt County in the early 90's. I've been feeling the need for a trip lately(its been 18 years) and just returned from a fruitless search on the mid coast.
I was landscaping at a home we are selling and found some LBM's growing under some aspen and birch trees. This area is well watered and has received quite a bit of hemlock bark over the last 6 years.
They have a caramel colored cap when fresh/young and a separable gelatinous pellicle. The stems are white and fibrous and bruise blue. The caps bruise blue along the margins and there seems to be a purple/brown spore print left on the stems and caps of some mushrooms. I cannot identify an annulus. Working on a actual spore print now. Any ideas?

Psilocybe ovoideocystidiata perhaps. Definitely safe to consume, at least.

Please let me know if I can provide more information or different pictures. I would like to know for sure what species they are.

FYI - They are very small. The largest cap is the size of of a quarter. They smell like the cyans I used to pick and have all the other characteristics I would suspect to see in a psilocybin mushroom. With all the research I've done, I am a little shocked these were found east of the cascades at about 3750 ft elevation.

Thats my guess as well.

This is incredible. Shrooms are not supposed to be growing East of the Cascade Mountains! Amazing!

Welcome to the Shroomery.

Thank you!
I also believe they're safe to consume, although it would be cool to get a definitive ID. It's funny how small they are. Some of the caps on the smaller mushrooms are only 1/4" across. They are showing even more bluing now, especially in the caps.
They were covered in leaves and the first thing I saw was a clump of shrooms roll to my feet. I unfortunately had already torn up most of the rest, with only the one small cluster left in the ground.

After looking into this a little further, I do think P. Baeocystis is correct. I always thought this was less prolific in the valley and puget sound area than other psilocybes. Finding it east of the Cascades is crazy!
I also figured Baeos to be larger, gnarly looking fruits. But some of the descriptions I've read online now match these fairly well. I'm sure the environment they're in would limit their potential to grow well.
Wow, thanks everyone!

I'm drying these to use later, any recommendations on dry weight dosage?

I don't think I hear of this one often, I'd be taking prints.

You should send me a spore print, I would like to study them, I'm getting bored with P. cubensis.

None of the caps printed last night.  I close the sale on the home next week, so I'm hoping to get out there in a few days and find more to try and print. If I'm able to get a print I'll let you know.
