Is love dope or what?

I've been considering this for a while...love and dop(amine). I did a google and unsurprisingly found that I'm not the first to consider its relationship to brain chemistry. Sigh...kinda steals the magic...but interesting nonetheless. Here's an easy-read article.

The FEELING of love is caused by dopamine, but the feeling is only part of what love is about. If love were just a release of dopamine, why couldn't I feel that way with just anyone? Love is a way of relating to someone. If I love someone, I put their feelings and well-being ahead of my own. In other words, love is a form of insanity.

Well, check out the article. Dopamine isn't the only chemical mentioned. The usuals are listed such as seratonin, but also two hormones, oxytocin and vasopressin, seem to be very responsible.

I agree that love is a form of insanity. Researchers mention similarities to OCD and manic-depression.

I've read countless times, that love is a combination of chemicals in our brain triggered by external stimuli such as seeing beautiful women, kissing, sex, experiencing kindness from others, relating to them as silversoul adds above, consuming drugs, gaining large amounts of cash, eating copious amounts of chocolates, etc etc.

It's almost depressing...does everything break down to matters of brain chemistry? Love-birds? Soul-mates? Heheheh...or junkies?

Isnt Vasopressin an anti-diuretic hormon something to do with regulating urine
and Oxytocin is for the stimulation of giving birth and milk production

Anyway I know what your saying, that love is just a Biological imparative to reproduce and have children ect. It a chemical imbalance that can drive you crazy and make you do stupid things and withdrawell can be as bad as heroin.
