My thinking is that it was just to sow distrust of the democratic process (and American institutions generally) and create general chaos. Trump getting elected also seems to further these goals.

Blackmail would only make sense if there was additional stuff held back and not released, which could well be the case. The breach hurt Clinton's chances of winning though, and thus also the potential value of blackmailing her party, so I'm not sure how likely this scenario is. It could make sense as a backup plan in case Trump lost I guess.

If you remember there was no talk of Russian BS until the third time Clinton Loss the election then she went for that the Russians hacked the election.  If anyones believes the USA is that blind that another nation can change our election well your wrong. No outside entities told me or the 75 or so people i know to go down and vote for Trump at the polls.  Hillary lost for many other reasons her character for the most part.

They just still cant believe they lost bottom line.  And all this BS they are doing is just going to make Trump a shoe-in for 4 more years...

Can you quote where he said "good chance"?  I read the transcript and here is what it said:

About cleaning up the BS in Washington, not only is this guy creating new forms of BS'ing, but he is the embodiment of the establishment. I find it extremely naive to bet on a horse like Trump.

About this investigation: Maybe it is all smoke. Maybe it isn't. It doesn't take from the fact that we have an extremely incompetent president in the WH.

The investigation, along with public knowledge of it, began in June of 2016. At that time everyone, republican or democrat, thought it was likely Hillary was going to win as they continued to do right up until the votes were being counted. I don't know where you live but in my reality the election did not occur until 5 months later.

No one mentioned Obama. Most Trump supports ime have no idea what his policies are, what he's done so far, what he hasn't done so far, or anything having to do with Donald Trump. For as much as they supposedly back him though they seem to know an awful lot about Democratic candidates however politically relevant they may or may not currently be.

If the best reason that you can come up with to support your candidate or representative is that they are not someone you don't like then they're probably not someone you should be supporting. One thing not being bad does not mean the other must be good, nor does another being bad mean the other must be good. Sometimes things are all good and sometimes, most of the time in US politics, they're all bad.

I agree with what you're saying, but there has been a backlash against the Establishment, the success of Trump and Sanders proves that point.

If people wanted Establishment politicians they would have voted for Cruz and Clinton, that didn't happen.

I do believe some actually have but I do not know off hand and I don't see why that matters. If he's guilty and they do not go out of their way to stand up for him that doesn't mean they don't support him anymore than you not giving all of my saving to joe schmoe means you don't support his aspirations to be a dentist. It just means they are not willing to sacrafice themselves in an effort to support him.

Have any stepped up and suggested he's guilty and should be prosecuted/impeached or even encouraged the investigation (again, I do think one or two have done that though too)? By that same mode of reasoning you could then say they are all supporting him by not actively trying to out him.

If it's true that in your world view republicans, democrats, and the media on both sides are against then I can't understand how you rationalize support for him? If everyone is shouting at you in all directions that he is bad where are you getting your information from and why is it unbiased where as the rest of them are all seemingly in a conspiracy to discredit him?
