I thought the same way for years...then I started learning alot, and came up with my own views and very quickly came to the conclusion; since WWII every military action has been for nothing...I will go into the Military when their is a war worth fighting. wow buddy, I never said the wars of today are just. I just want to spend time in the military and then move on, go to college, make a living, have a family. Gotta make sure I don't have a family too while I'm at war, I'm gonna have to keep my mind focused on the war.

why can't people realize that there are fanatics in all religions and beliefs? No matter what belief it is, there is someone out there who will take it to the extreme. Fanatical Christians who blow up abortion clinics or torture and kill people because of their opposing beliefs comes to mind... They never represent the mainstream but with the way we are treating the Muslim world, I can see the main stream beliefs of most Muslims leaning further towards fanaticsm. I also see non Muslims leaning towards a violent reactionary mentality in response to the terroristic acts carried out by Muslims...
Just remember, one person's terrorist is another's freedom fighter...

Maybe if Muslims weren't so damned evil we would get along with them better. So I don't see much chance of peace untill we democratize them and then either their foolish faith will be thrown out like old bathwater, or they accept another folish but non-savage faith like christianity.
Which do you guys think is more likely to happen? I think the catholic church has a decent chance... They have a long history of civilizing savages.

Zahid, this is a good post. I have been reading about the Chechen conflict for awile and I see no problem with people fighting for their independence. I do have a problem with a giant imperial power blowing entire cities and villages to bits. And then people wonder why people have started to blow themselves up and commit terrible acts of terror. Its just a predictable response to having the shit kicked out of you for over a decade.

On the contrary, many get angry when Isreal, the United States and whatever country muslims target because they find it unfair. I just don't understand why many want to align themselves with the cause. Someone explain it to me. You never even see the masses of muslims speak out against these actions which makes many people question if terrorism isn't their policy. Sure you get 2 or three "clerics" say it's a bad thing but it then stops there.

You do, actually. The Palestinians always denounce the Hamas bombings whenever they occur. I'm sure loads of regular palestinians approve of the bombings, but then loads of regular israelis approve of the israeli attacks. Both sides are fucked up.
