pipelines have been the safest means of transporting oil to date

Reminds me of when I went to that baseball game. Game ends and everyone clears, fucking garbage absolutely everywhere. God damned 1' piles of chew up sunflower seed shells just spat on the ground and left there. Beer cans and half eaten hot dogs. Shitty diapers. All kinds of garbage. Like what the fuck. The aftermath of that was the grossest thing I've ever seen in person. And I've been in a few pig and chicken barns. I'd hate to be the asshole cleaning all that up.

The pic in the OP is retarded though. How easy it is for people to shift responsibility. I wouldn't be surprised they are 'sticking it to the man' on that one. I hate it when people try to validate their actions, we all fuck up but it's always our own fault.

See the thing is...every time I see this kind of stuff I think about my time in Japan, sort of near osaka but a bit off from it.  Everyone had it instilled in them from birth that "trash" is something important and not to be neglected and that there were different kinds that needed to be handled accordingly.  Everything was more or less spotless on the streets and in the jungles and mountains there.
"don't leave a trace behind!" " leave it better than you found it " are things that were impressed upon people through words, actions, and attitudes, and was reflected in the clear streets and busy corners and natural areas there.

It Must be a largely cultural thing...its not like throwing your beer cans and water bottles onto the floor makes them disappears anyone whos anybody with any presence of mind and worth their own weight knows all that shit gets mixed up in all the other shit and gets out of control easily.

When things are clean - even if its a mess - it can usually take care of itself.

it's certainly not isolated to japanese culture because it's what I was taught, when
I go camping I take out more trash than I bring in, if I leave something behind it's
something that will not have an impact but be usable for the next guy such as
firewood. I pick up the trash I see along the trails. there's always a pocket for
that crap in a pack and it's not that much extra weight

that's why scenes with these 'earth first' dumbasses and liberals that claim to be
about saving the environment are disappointing, they clearly dont give a fuck about
their cause, they seem to just want to be included in something

Those are things your parents usually teach you, or should. So to me that's a failing in our culture to properly educate people how to parent. Western society has kinda fucked up values. I tell my son every day, "Don't tell me you can't, that's not a word I want to hear. Winners know how to fail." Love isn't enough, we need to teach them how to be good people. I'd never let my son get away with that, and he's gonna remember that. Remember why nature needs us as much as we need it, remember that the trees are alive and so are the bugs and birds and even the grass. Like I avoid stepping on certain plants when I walk, and bugs. I'll pick up trash. If I see something rotten on the road or the side of the road you bet your ass I'm gonna pick it up if I can. Our society needs to focus on teaching people how to parent because a lot of people just aren't cutting it.

That's the funny part - more than most people in the US they rely on the environment - for both their job and play. Yet they give the least amount of shits of anyone.
