Now now.  We aren't all women or male homosexuals.

It wobbles my mind.  The Canadians are going to extract the oil regardless.  It is going to have to be transported.  The safest way to transport it is in a pipeline.  It is going to have to go to a refinery.  Which country would you prefer it be refined in?

All the anti-fossil fuel weenies need to stop using it.

There are pipeline bursts here that poison ground water supplies all the time.

The reason you don't know about them is because they happened in the middle of nowhere. They also have terrible record of actually stopping the line when it leaks as the warning system doesn't work and is ignored because it falses. Pipe leaks here tend to get reported by the public. Like some Indian in the middle of nowhere. I have never met anyone here who thinks the pipeline warning systems actually work. And this is the heartland of oil company propaganda. 
My ex gf is oil company lawyer, they don't have to report oil leaks to public, they can pay a fine to regulator and it gets covered up. There was a big one in Arctic that has never been reported in media.

I make no comment on US jobs, in Canada all jobs in oil above gas station level are high paying. The US may just hire Mexicans, I don't know.

Personally I think Canada should nationalize oil and keep it all in canada and stop selling it to evil nations like china and america. I don't understand this rush to get it all out of the ground now to trade it for pieces of paper. Why not save some for later?

i don't think having it refined here is going to help the many. but i've heard this argument before and i think it's a valid one. it's not like they're not going to develop it in one way or another. and if they transport it via boat -- which is what i've heard the main alternative is -- the environmental consequences are vastly worse.

I think you are probably right, but I know you can move a fuckton of product by rail at least much cheaper than by trucks.  I would assume a pipeline would be more competitive to move oil, it also has lots of built in safety features.

Would you rather have a pipe carrying the water to your house or do you want to grab a bucket and going back and forth to the well?
