Yepper, I'm a regied democrat who voted for the person who won the election, Gore. I can't stand freakin Bush. We're turning into more of a police state than ever. Maybe if the other 40% of voters who would vote democrat, voted, we wouldn't have a baby Hilter in office.

I'm registered alright! Although I haven't gotten to vote yet seeing how I just turned 18 in December...but registering was the very first thing I did. Before even excercising my right to buy porn, it was voting! I registered Libertarian but a few weeks later got a letter saying it is no longer a "recognized political party" in my state. Its complete bullshit if you ask me but, what am I gonna do? I'm now "unaffiliated" which is fine with me. Voting is the #1 most important thing you should do. Nothing pisses me off more than people who complain about the government but don't excercise even the smallest of their rights to change it. Even if you believe that voting is worthless, as a purely symbolic act, you should excercise that right! Remember that people all over the world DIE for that right. Be thankful that you have it....and do what you can to change things you don't like. Also, the fat tax is bullshit!

so you'd rather total anarchy? I think you'd change your mind if you saw it. I agree that most of the government is bullshit...but I believe there needs to at least be some form of order. It would be nice if people could just behave civilly without laws to govern them but, unfortunately, the world doesn't work that way.

you are trying to tell me total anarchy is grand? Would it be grand when people with guns came and took all your shit...would it be grand if women were getting raped and no one stopped them....would it be grand if murder was something people could just get away with? Maybe if the world population was MUCH, MUCH smaller, it could work....but there are FUCKED UP people in this world and a lack of order would cause shit to SERIOUSLY hit the fan. I am thankful for some order in this world....no, I do not like police, no I do not agree with the war on drugs...and yes, I do believe that a lot of government is corrupt...but would I rather have anarchy? No fucking way! I vote and attend protest rallys and marches and do whatever I can to affect the aspects of government that I disagree with. Thats a start....and realize that even if you do think there should be no government, there is a very, very slim chance of that happening any time soon. At least by voting you can in however small a way play a part in who does get into power...so at least the government we do have might have a chance at improving. If kids sit around all day complianing about the war on drugs, evil George Bush, corrupt cops etc....and do nothing about it, than they are just as bad as those they critizise. If you cast your vote and your candidte doesn't win, be my guest...your complaints are welcome.

Actually...The line between total anarchy and complete government control is a thin one. In a total anarchy system, since there are no rules or laws everything would be controlled by the Strongest, most powerful person / group...how is that different?

you have a very negative view of human nature. we are born as pure beings, only corrupted by the system in which you take part in. please don't judge the capablity of humans by eliminating the force of power which imposes everything negative and immoral unto us and then say "see!! its all BAD!".. clear your mind and imagine humanity in its perfect sense... now... the reason we can't get there, is the nonexistent path towards human advancment we are choosing to follow.

there would not be a "powerful person /group". that only exists now because you let it.

How would you not let it happen without becoming the very thing that you are fighting against?

there would be no need too. human advancement would be done by all individuals... as of now, we like to "advance" by killing people, making lots of money, seizing power, and trampling the very foundation which makes us human (freedom)... now, you can "advance" either way, so, i guess its up to humanity.

Sounds good on paper, but who would co-ordinate this effort? Surely you can understand that large groups of people cannot effectively govern themselves. Hell, even an online community like the Shroomery needs Mods and Admins to keep the peace. Unless human nature evolves spontaneously then I would say that your theory is impossible

I hate to say it papaver, but that is sad but true. Sadly there are parents out there who would let their kids goto sleep on an empty belly, before they goto sleep without a cigarette.
