I think it will create 2000 jobs for 2-3 years, which is basically not much at all.


if that. a lot of pipeline work is high pay but temporary, as in a few months at a time to reduce costs. the oil companies know how to suck their workers dry on that end. their geologists on the other hand make mad fucking bank.

Why NOT build the pipeline?  because it will 'poison the aquifer'?  Please someone, show me a major oil pipeline fracture that has poisoned an aquifer.  Hint--there hasn't been any in the national news. 

By the way, when a large pipeline loses pressure, it is sensed at the various pumping stations, and valves begin closing on the line, soon stopping any loss of product into the ground.

i think it's fair to say that it's common knowledge that extractive industry has been a major force in pollution since its beginning. if you need me to link you to a few of the several million papers and books in circulation that covers this subject just let me know.

He will find his precious little veto gets stomped on by dems crossing over to the other side who would like to keep their job in the next election remembering the fiasco obumble brought on them recently. Obumble's already low ratings will keep dropping, he will set a record as the worst president ever passing Nixon, harding, hayes, and other incompetent ones. Scotus will clip his wings and he will be lucky if he escapes impeachment and removal though he probably will scrape by on that.

Well the fucking pipeline won't build itself and we don't have robots to do it either.

Harper's agenda is to have that pipeline built.

1200 miles of pipeline will require people, transport, machines, engeneers, landscapers, dynamite and a bunch of other indirect stuff like that. Plus once its on, Texas will need more workers to deal with the oil.

That and trains won't have to carry oil through cities, derail and blow up an entire downtown core like it happened last summmer in Quebec killing 68

You all do realize there is more to life than the "economy." There are human beings out there who will be negatively affected by this project. Native Americans who have already had their land stolen are about to have even more of it taken from them.

"Creating jobs" is such a bullshit excuse for this bill. It's about making rich people richer, simple as that.

When it does finally go through, which it probably will, they are going to have a hell of a time building it due to the thousands of people who are going to sabotage it.

The same people who are against the pipeline complain that the cost of living is too high because of the rich people. Their only solution is to raise the min wage. But, the cost of oil ripples through the economy and adds to the cost of every single thing you use. Making oil easier to get and cheaper is better than the min wage going up.
