Trump talks to Taiwan

Apparently the Chinese are pissed.

"China views Taiwan as a renegade province and, since 1979, the US has acknowledged Beijing's claim that Taiwan is part of China, with US-China relations governed by a set of protocols known as the "one China" policy.

This means there are no formal diplomatic relations between the United States and Taiwan -- so Trump's decision to take Taiwanese President Tsai Ing-wen's call could risk a major upset."

Does this eschewing of diplomatic protocol reveal Trump to be a dangerous wildcard or an innovator?

Pissing off China doesn't seem innovative or in any way intelligent or advantageous, at least to me.  They own trillions of our debt, and are in a business partnership with us to the tune of trillions every year for both countries.  I'm not sure fucking with that could be appropriately construed to be a good idea.

I could see someone arguing that it's a negotiation tactic. Trump may be trying to display that he is willing to "stand up" to the demands of China if they won't come to an agreement with him. Once the other party knows you'll never get up and leave the table they have already won.

Tbh I wouldn't be surprised if Trump did this on accident. I don't think he knows a whole lot about diplomatic protocol yet. When Tsai Ing called he probably thought "The president of Taiwan... Sounds important!"

CNN is notorious for fear mongering and absolutely trashed what little credibility they once had during the election. Their clown college experts and pollsters. I swear, they put up bozo the fucking clown with some of these nonsense articles and headings.

After reading a couple different sources, it seems Chinese officials who got quoted are well aware that Trump is retarded and they played the incident down as a Taiwanese prank. The white house and Beijing immediately patched things up.

We now have a Berlusconi/Duerte/Ahmedinijad shit tier leader. At best foreign leaders will condescend to Trump like an autistic child, at worst valuable diplomatic relations will be soured because Trump's fefes got hurt :cryaboutit:
