There really aren't a lot of social issues discussed in this forum, the odd thread shows up, and sometimes gets pretty interesting, but it's not that common.

Okay, I get your "point", but this was my "point":

If you were at a party, and if I was the bimbo inappropriately attired (not that I usually am, but I remember a night I really felt like dressing up for a party some years ago), and I was also acting like the center of attention (not because I want to be but because I am usually the one having the most fun and talking and people kind of gravitate to me), YOU WOULDN'T TALK TO ME!!! 

And I think I'm a nice, fun person, who wouldn't hurt anyone.  But YOU WOULDN'T TALK TO ME just because I "appear" in a manner that sets off your preconceived ideas of how a person should dress or behave.

This reminds me of a thread where I talked about being afraid of teen-agers (well, not really "afraid", but more "intimidated") until I had my own, and then I learned that they may look funny, but they were good kids, inside. 

We miss out on a lot when we shun people because of how they look or act.  I'm not saying all bimbos are intelligent, caring, warm, loving people (:grin:), but if you avoid all bimbos, or whatever, you might miss out on meeting someone who may be interesting or have something interesting to say.  You might miss out on the argument of your life!!!  :lol:

Clothes are an important social signal. IF you dress to impress, people, like Mr., are going to think about you differently than if you wear a t-shirt and jeans, like me.

So is you attitude at parties. I usually can't stand parties. I usually can't stand pretentious jerks anytime, but at a social event where I am supposed to be having fun, these people are especially worse.

I a chick is wearing a fancy shmancy get-up and all girls are giving her queer looks out of the sides of their eyes, AND she is eating it up, then she's getting what she wants.

Personally, I don't think people should wear alot of clothes. Did you see that simpsons where Flanders gets in a relationship with a lady who wears this really sexy dress to a party. "It's to create the illusion of nudity." Obviously, nudity isn't the best answer. That unknown element makes it even sexier. I love it when sexy ladies wear sexy clothes, and I think they love it too, if for no other reason than they are able to instill such strong feelings in others with their bodies.

Power to the sexy.

Yes. And I had always had a stick figure when I was growing up. Even getting pregnant didn't seem to help. I usually lost the weight and dropped back down to 115. At 5'6", this is a little on the skinny side.

So now that I'm 128 pounds, I feel a little more womanly, and yes, dammit, I will dress in a sexy manner because I won't be able to when I'm 90!

That is a point that never occurred to me.  Hmmm. 

Except that usually I see through whatever guy I happen to be talking to, and I usually would weed out the superficial ones.  And anyways, I'm not usually at a party to get hit on.  I'm usually there just to have fun.  But I would ultimately get to talk to some really interesting people. 

I don't go to parties any more, btw.  I play pool.  Jeans.  T-shirts.  White zinfandel.  :grin:
