What do you mean by "overdressed"?

It's also interesting to note that there is a word for hating women, misogyny. However, there is no word for hating men.

I wonder why that is?

Maybe it's because men are flawless and there is no true reason to hate them.

the opposite of misogyny is called misandry...if you read the links in my earlier post..then it should be obvious as to why the word is kept out of casual vocabulary...

"There's a general feeling that the opposite sex are silly, shallow, and generally the cause of all relationship problems."

That's because of a difference of perspective. Who do most men hang out with most of the time? Men. Who do most women hang out with most of the time? Women. From a very early age this creates a comfort with one's own sex that often can't be easily obtained from large groups of the opposite sex.

Most of the men I know at my age focus on sex with women. Most of the women I know at my age are focusing on FINDING A LIFE-PARTNER. I can see how a woman looking for a life-partner would find a man looking for strictly sex "silly and shallow." I can also see though how a woman looking for a husband this early in life appears shallow and silly due to my current perspective.

Its like they say, women mature faster than men  so perhaps for us guys its like dealing with annoying "Mom!" all the time, and for the ladies its like dealing with little children all the time hehe

I don't know how much bitterness I have towards women.

I am turning 21 in March and I have never had a meaningful relationship. My parents split up, off and on from when I was a baby until I was about 14. My mother was always unstable.

My grandparents can't seem to get along for twenty consecutive minutes. Petty arguments everywhere. At social functions they are often saying things like "my better half" "light of my life" etcetera, but at home they seem miserable.

My sisters marriage has been breaking up since before she was engaged.

I truly can't think of one relationship that isn't so fucked up the parties might just be happier alone.

And so I remain alone.

I personaly have never experienced a satisfying relationship with a woman, sexually or otherwise.

Beutiful is as beutiful does...and is only skin deep...from there on I see cruelty, selfishness, tyrrany and dishonesty...which leaves me with the feeling that a relationship with a woman is over-rated.

Of course many men are cruel, selfish, dishonest and tyrannical also.

...And with thia attitude I suppose I will never have a satisfying relationship with a woman...Therefore I can relegate them from serious consideration as equals ...

...And view them primarily as sex objects...a fantasy...as perhaps they wish to be percieved.

No mystery here.

When someone appears to be acting like the center of attention, it might just be me, being the extreme extrovert that I am!

And I don't mind a girl wearing a thong, as long as she has a nice ass.

Yeah, but now you have opened another subjective can of worms. We have to agree on the definition of a "nice ass"... Where will it end? (no pun intended)

"This goes along with the person who tries to be the center of attention at a party."

What's wrong with people who like to be the center of attention? Are they harming others?

This behaviour may stem from insecurities or it may not, but the problem isn't the fact that they are dressing oddly or that their behaviour draws attention, that is merely a sympton.

Phluck, you shoulda been in OTD yesterday, a certain person's ex came around harassing her again for the umpteenth time, and is/was a prime fine example of the philisophy you present in this fine thread of yours.

By overdressed I mean, I wear my tux while everyone else wears a suit or you wear a floor length mink coat to go grocery shopping provided no one else is wearing one. Or everyone on a beach is wearing a bikini and you wear a thong. (underdress as overdress)

So what! I know just as many nerdy, ugly guys that dress and act extremely, overly, weird just to get attention, and people think they're "cute" and "breaking the mold." If they were good looking people would call them posing attention whores.

I think the obvious answer here is for everyone to start going nude. I don't see another way around these judgment problems.

Good point. As I said about my sister, a pair of shorts and a halter top, and she thinks she's so hot. On an ugly, fat woman, they're just clothes.

Is it jealousy? Insecurity?

My guru said something about this once. Something like, if you are in some way perceived as better by someone, they will usually try to pull you down, instead of trying to rise to your level. Most people are lazy.

If I see a lady wearing a thong, and I'm a fat pig, instead of dieting so that I can look as good as the lady in the thong, I will call her a whore for wearing a thong.

If I see a guy in a tux, I may think he is too good for me, because I am only wearing a house-dress, and therefore I will criticize him for being an attention seeker instead of finding something nicer to wear.

Or, I am just insecure if I criticize people for being different, for dressing differently, for acting differently. It was on one of the threads where we talked about my sisters, and why they were judgmental.

I think it is the same thing here. Anyone who is different from me, and who does things I wouldn't do, must not be a good person. I must be a good person. If everyone doesn't do as I do, either I might not be as good as I thought, or I might be wrong, or they must be bad. Hmmm. Yep, they're bad.
