I'm an eighteen year old student from Germany, who would like to share my thoughts. With that beeing said,I'm sorry for any grammatic mistakes.

DMT is found naturally in various natural sources(Ayahuasca), and is related to human neurotransmitters such as serotonin and melatonin. “There is speculation involving the role DMT may play in the dream state. Visionary plants have been commonly used around the world throughout the history of religion and culture (Hofmann, Schultes, & Ratsch 1992), including in the various forms of Western Esotericism (Heinrich 1994). Greek and Christian mythic-religious systems often refer to visionary plants (Ruck, Staples, & Heinrich 2001). It is these experiences, among others, that Shanon parallels with the above events of Moses' life. He also makes note of the similarities between the three-day purification before the Ten Commandments were revealed and the traditional contexts of ayahuasca use; the "shining" appearance of people after taking ayahuasca with Moses' appearance after returning the second time from the Mount; as well as the responsiveness of the ayahuasca experience to certain personality traits that Moses possessed. He further corroborates his hypothesis with botanical and ethnobotanical information, linguistic considerations, exegesis of Talmudic and mystical Jewish texts, as well as data on the effects of a substance analogous to ayahuasca. Shannon states that his hypothesis is "admittedly speculative". I leave it to the reader to pass his or her judgment.” Comment by Philipp H.: “All these theories have to be viewed in a critical sense. All such speculations are problematic from a scientific perspective because they involve major assumptions about the nature of reality for which there is currently no corroborating evidence. But I believe there has to be some kind of spirituational world, humans try to explain consciousness since thousand of years through religion, so why not take a glance on other types of explanations. There’s a lot of stuff only being able to explained by alternative theories and still: Human consciousness, Thinking and the origin of the universe can only be explained by science in theories and assumptions. So why should the assumption of parallel realities be that unlikely? There’s a lot more to discover in human development. Who knows- in 100 years, the humanity might even be laughing about our unknowing ignorance. With the adequate use of psychedelic drugs- e.g. psilocybin- people’s mind would get opened to the real goods in humanity –love, altruism, benevolence and morally living, and could move away from greed, selfishness and hate. It’s a poor and disgraceful human-testimony that such beneficial substances, being used over thousands of years, get prohibited and treated as bad and harmful substances. I believe humanity has to move on from it’s negative point of view on drugs ( introduced by corruptive governments) and learn from our ancestors how they have developed. As we can see every day: Religions are root of all evil and I believe if we don’t get our minds out of this small selfish point of view and see things in a open-minded , non-judgemental angle, human mankind will destroy itself. It’s a fact that we can’t go on destroying all kind of nature through our selfishness and believe we won’t destroy ourselves with it- we will. In a state of highness by psychedelic mushrooms we can experience a deep connection to all kind of nature- everything is a product of nature, including ourselves- and get aware of the destructive, perversive impact human’s behavior has nowadays. People might argue: “Well I don’t really care what happens in thousand years, I’ll be dead at that point of time.” Did you ever thought about, that life might not be over after dead and everything is just a part of nature and some kind of higher state of existence in total. You might just destroy your own existence with destroying the planet. Humanity has to weak up and realize what’s really important in life. Furthermore, psychedelics can help leading the path on the way to the entirely state of well-being and luck. Money and Power isn’t a way to achieve that. It might give you temporary feeling of richness- but yet it won’t lead you to the real state of richness. So don’t get me wrong- I’m not saying, you HAVE to take mushrooms to get on the right path or you HAVE to do psychedelic drugs to understand what’s important in life. Some people are even born and raised already with the right attitudes in life and there are many other ways to get on the right track. But if you look on society nowadays: Society, economy, government, schools, media – all are leading us on the wrong path. They put us into the place of being egocentric, greedy and selfish. Of course one person can argue it’s a naturally attribute to be selfish in the first place, because as far as Darwin’s theory of evolution goes: The stronger, smarter and more advanced and adjusted entity is going to live on. Well, I don’t even deny this theory, in fact I think, it’s time for the next step of evolution: accepting and helping each other. Only if humanity will work together with each other, moving away from the greedy behavior into supporting behavior will be able to rescue our planet and humanity. With that being said- this attitude is needed to get to the ultimate state of peace and wellbeing. An emotional completion- a sense of a universal, never ending and complete love. I would call this experience a glimpse into the ultimate goal of human evolution as it plays out through history- but right now: It looks like we just might be on our path to total destruction. In my eyes society is not developing-we are regressing. i have heard of most of those people and so far agree with them even though i personally have never done a psychedelic i do believe that it is an important role in true peace and happiness i completely agree. just like if you meditate and alter your state of mind that way in order to see things either more clearly or to see things we can not normally see i believe that we have to change sometimes to experience. everything works on different wave lengths or vibrations so would it make since that we have to change ours to tune into it to see or experience?

I was about your age, or one year older, when I had my own experiences, and it was pretty much the perfect time of life for me to do so, I'm 26 now. I love several German writers and thinkers. . . Schopenhauer is wonderful; Goethe is always enjoyable and Herman Hesse got me started on the whole spiritual journey with Siddhartha, when I was 15. :-) I wasn't aware of Terence McKenna when I began - I had read The Joyous Cosmology by Watts, though. Truly impressive list of stuff you've compiled here. I've got one more for you, a truly beautiful old soul, Black Elk. . Correction - I think I understand where you switch over, although it seems to be in mid-paragraph. I agree with you completely, my friend. . Several things - yes, in a lot of ways we are regressing as a society; however, hope can always help us break the bonds of fear. It was after my psychadelic experiences that I discovered McKenna, from a friend - at first, I thought it was interesting but I didn't really warm up to him until a couple of years later. . After time passed I realized how important it is to create new culture, something new and vibrant, something beautiful. . . and five days ago or so I went to McKenna's quotes on goodreads.com, and it was very enjoyable - very illuminating. I found everything he said to be useful and beneficial. . So - that was nice. The issue has always been the same; we can save our ecosystem, we only have to desire it, collectively. Awesome stuff. Another person who is a pioneer in the field and very intelligent is John C. Lilly. Yeah, I had my first psychedelic mushroom experience 2 weeks ago with 2 goodbuddies of mine in Canada, because I've been staying there for a highschool exchange programm.We hiked in a forest on a mountain for 3 hours at like 2am in the night. It was so stunning and mind-blowing with the whole forest and stars above us. I think the setting and ppl I did it with was close to perfect for me. It was a time with so many mindblowing discoveries. I just felt love for nature,for my friends, for the whole planet ,for everybody.I could feel the trees living next to me explaining the whole world to me.And we talked about so many amazing theories, like they just popped up in my head out of nothing. I really can tell that there must be something special,maybe some higher typ of consciousness about mushrooms. I'm just getting started all into this, I'm pretty much interested in neuroscience and the exploration/expansion of consciousness. It's an faszinating topic with so much to explore. Just the problem with doing research on these topics is the prohibition in many countries. I read alot of stuff about scientific researches, but at the moment it's just hard to do legal researches in psychopharmacology. The whole drug policies are just not even close to scientific evidence. There has to be some change. Thanks for your suggestions! I'll read through them. Yeah most of the parts are quoted by scientists, with some of my ideas put inbetween. The comment in the end is fully written by myself, only capturing shortly a few ideas I have. If you didn't read the book of Graham Hancock yet, I only can fully recommend you to read it,it's an stonishing theory. The only hope I have, that I'll somehow be able to work in this kind of research field and explore more. There's so much more stuff to be explored and so many benefits which could be taken out of psychodelics. I just hate the fact, most of society convicts ppl who use these kind of psychoactive substances, even though they mostly all drink alcohol and smoke cigarettes-which is the stuff that truely destroys once body. So many people could benefit of having a psychodelic experience in a good setting. But every time i start talking to people in germany about this subject, I just see unknowing ignorance. Thinking only cause its called "illegal drug" it has to be rly bad,without even knowing any scientific stuff about it. Often even see ppl that are rly afraid of it. And whats kinda sad is that the friends,who truely understand me and know what I'm talking about live in Canada. I live in Germany. But I'll guess just gotta get my friends here enlighted or eventually if time goes by , I'm pretty sure to meet the right people at some point. Your enthusiasm is contagious and encouraging, truth. I've had some great experiences on mountains, but never while tripping.
Part of my experience was the certainty, the knowledge that the truth of this illumination would sweep the world. . it would happen almost instantly. . I just, I will always remember that. My own experience of the divine with LSD began in serenity, in the peace of my home. . . I was listening to the Heart Sutra mantra in the beginning of it. I began to feel a state of meditation, of absorption described in Herman Hesse's Siddhartha - I began to experience that when I would move my hand, it would abate; but when I remained still, it increased. So I remained still. The state of absorption increased until it encompassed me entirely, and right at the height of it everything flipped, or reversed. Suddenly I saw the emptiness of doubt, worry, pain, fear, ego, and every form, and I knew that forever, always, there was never any reason to fear, no matter what would ever happen. I also at this moment felt my own feet on the ground - as if, my entire life, they had never felt the ground of being, the source, but suddenly I was. The moment of feeling non-duality was like waking up from a dream. . but this was all only the first few minutes of my experience. I continued to feel a great deal of blissfulness, and peace, and I went further down the stream, so to speak. . . further along the experience. Soon I began to feel the boundlessness of my being, how it was not just a limited self, but it spread further and further. . The words that would describe it best seemed to be divine bliss, divine consciousness. . . All I felt was the experience, but the words that my life translates it into were Buddha-nature, and the Saccidananda from Hinduism, or Truth-Consciousness-Bliss. . Atman - and the two are certainly the same type of thing. . divine consciousness, divine bliss, as you say, higher reality. Right during this point, I felt, completely sure, that this truth would sweep over the world; illusion and every illusory state would vanish - after all, they are nothing. . . I knew that almost immediately, it would all happen, the entire world would wake up in this infinite, ever blissful, ever-beautiful and true reality. . When you wake up from the dream. Later on I experienced the peak of my vision, and the very height of it. . I was looking into the folds of a blanket, and I saw them suddenly as a White Lotus flower. . . the most beautiful. . as I gazed into it, enraptured, after a period of time I suddenly realized that I was seeing my own heart, my own source, First I saw it was the source of being, and then suddenly I saw that I was one with it. . and at this moment I also felt the universe move, with my hand. . There's no way to describe this better than Watts did - I'd read his description before, and it was spot on. . 'The elusive substance beneath all the forms of existence turned out to be the immediate gesture of my hand.' It was a beautiful experience - soon thereafter I returned to the normal consciousness of day-to-day life. . I only did it twice later, each time slightly less profound. . the second time, I also had a visionary experience. . The way I experienced it that time, was not being a character on a page, controlled by external events, but suddenly realizing that I was holding the pen, writing the story. . . outside of the book, and actually creating the book of my life. . With the freedom therefore, to create in it anything I chose. My third experience on acid made me believe it may be a process of diminishing returns - in any case, I received the message the first time, and certainly the second time; and so I have no real need to do so again. . . although I may one day, I have no strong desire. . One of the pioneers to which I am indebted and grateful, Alan Watts, had a similar view. So - anything you do to help share illumination on this subject is undoubtedly invaluable - and I thank you in advance for whatever you do. . . Do be aware, that the reactions you described are very wide-spread, and, from my experience, sometimes the most entrenched in the world of science. Therefore my idea of simply creating something new. . .publishing, sharing information, experiments, ideas, work, poetry, whatever you may do. . . In other words, simply create. That's only my opinion. . So - there were a few people I know of who were pioneers, who knew each other, and who shared a lot, and helped created the theoretical atmosphere in which we can discuss these things. . I only know of a few of them, and I have studied three of them more than the others. But Timothy Leary - you know him I would reckon; he was an interesting person for sure. Tim and Richard Alpert were friends; professors at their university, they'd been discovering research about mushrooms, and were interested in trying them. . but Richard was away in India, for about a month after Tim had begun experiencing them. . . Anyway- Tim, Richard, Alan Watts, John C. Lilly, and Alduous Huxley all knew each other at various points, and shared ideas. . Huxley wrote Doors of Perception about mescaline - I've only read portions of it - Watts continued his theoretical work in a wonderful, short volume titled The Joyous Cosmology - a beautiful description of Alan's experiences on LSD. . It's very useful to have some of this knowledge. . Richard became immersed in Indian spirituality and became a monk; he wrote a beautifully thought out, and well illustrated book called Be Here now; and others later. . . There's a wonderful, fascinating discussion between him and Terence McKenna online, floating around. . . The waiter is absolutely hilarious :-) Tim stayed there at the university and never quit doing LSD. . in some of his Dharma talks, Ram Dass talks about him, and obviously has a lot of affection for the man. Of course you know McKenna - and probably more than I do ;P Forgive me if I'm saying anything already basic to your knowledge base. . I just thought I'd talk about some of it. . I found out about Jonn C. Lilly way later. . I love a lot of his ideas, although I'm familiar with only a few. . One of his books is called Metaprogramming, I think I may get that eventually. . I won't forget Hancock either  It helps to have had a good life. . to have developed well, to have a peaceful and happy life, when experimenting with these things. . It also helps a great deal to already be free of mental or karmic blocks to a good extent. . . When I was a kid, my dad never drank, though he'd been a hippie. . We lived out in the country, without a TV, and I got to run around with my brother in the nature. . climbing trees and all of that good stuff. I honestly feel that children watching television is a very bad idea - it's not a good or normal way for the brain to develop. . it may be a slight thing, but from a slight cause can come very large events. When I was young, my dad taught me a lot about good ways of looking at the world, thinking for myself; having faith in myself. . that kind of thing is essential, I believe. . I also grew up on Calivn and Hobbes and Dr. Seuss. I remember him telling me one time, when I was 14 - I asked, I'd been researching DMT and all the rest with my friends, although I never did shrooms until a year or two later - what was LSD like? He told me, it was like all the neurons firing in your brain at once. . My dad had one or two bad trips, and he was part of the many who don't believe it's a spiritual experience - which is fine. . . it's different for everyone. Even though after I had mine, I told him all about it :-) But like you say, McKenna and so many others have so many good things to tell. Over the last year, I have been learning how valuable it is to create culture, as McKenna says, rather than giving one's power away. . . There are so many things that are useful, necessary, and true, for any social revolution to take place - For one, people have to recondition themselves to the understanding that they matter. . . You and I, and every individual, matter a great deal. There are really innumerable little things like this that can help people take power back for themselves. . It's my wish that we can do so. In the words of Thay (Nhat Hanh), regain our sovereignty. Rumi, Black Elk, Swami Vivekananda, Watts, Thich Nhat Hanh and 2 or 3 dozen others were invaluable teachers to me. I know I went off on a tangent on some of this stuff - the next time I post, it will be much more focused on your statements, and all of that.. I just wanted to share some of my own story..
