cyanescens tips?
    #2030019 -

Hey, I'm new here and live in Portland OR, and several people have told me now was the time to go P. Cyanescens hunting. That, plus MJs find have made me curious. So, does anybody have any tips as to where to find P. Cyanscens? I'm in a park several times a day, a reasonably nice neighborhood so there are quite a few heavily mulched gardens and yards (including mine), and I'm a short drive to the coast. Not only this, but it also just rained for a while, and today was the first warm day afterwards (around 80
So any helpful tips for someone new to hunting would be appreciated.

Oh yeah, it was fuckin' hot today. When I posted that it had cooled down to about 78. But back to the subject, the biggest question is would I be able to find them in a park? Nothing to big, the park is only 3 by 1 city blocks, but it has lots of trees, woodchips, grass, bushes, a garden (mulched? dunno), and the like.

Places with enough property that they mulch their own prunings rather than pay to truck it away. They can be chip piles from that season or older ones that have overgrown. Many more urban/residential places are shipping in their mulching material, and that usually ends up being cedar [no good]. Parks and buildings with a lot of trees on their property are good starts.

i've been waiting for some good rain to check out a park i used to frequent. they have a large area of mulched wood covered ground from two years ago. they use local trees taht had to be cut down for one reason or another.

Attn PWN hunters: If you should come across a bluing Psilocybe matching P. pellicolusa please smell it.
If you detect a scent reminiscent of Anethole (anise) please preserve a specimen or two for study and please PM me.

OK, anyone else got any tips? It rained today, and tomorrow I'm gonna check out the park for some around where the woodchips meet the grass, plus I now have a habit of scanning the yards I pass on the street for mushrooms.

First you should familiarize yourself with the look of the red cedar mulch (cyans don?t grow on cedar) Once you know what that looks like you can avoid pointlessly looking in the wrong areas.

This is the shit you don?t want
