I mean sure, they are a go, but abortions are protested and condoms and iuds aren't used.
Third world countries don't even have easily accessed birth control, and if they did I doubt they would use it.
Placing a limit on children would limit the issue, but the problem is even scientists aren't on that boat.
I'm pretty sure the current erroneous theory is that the population will cap out at 10 billion in two thousand something.

I'm pretty sure a better idea than a population limit would be distribution of birth control, condoms, abortion legalization, proper sex education and the ability to opt-in for a sterilization procedure at any age if you get through the right clearances.

The problem with that idea is that it's riding on kids to pay attention in school and the average person to make a logical decision.
These are two things that rarely happen ime.
The problem with limiting children in a household is that if people decide to break the law, a kid is still in this world.
Forced abortion and or sterilization after the first child would solve that problem but would be met with quite a bit of protest, and that is a whole other problem.
I do agree that what you say should be in effect though and I honestly can't imagine why it isn't.

That stuff works in the first world, but that's not where the population problem is, anyway.  We've been distributing condoms in Africa for over a decade, and it has failed to make a significant impact on the spread of AIDS.  I see no reason to believe that it would reduce population growth.

The fact is that most people see population control to be an issue for OTHERS, but not for themselves.  We don't want OTHER PEOPLE to procreate, but we are, of course, special...so our seed should be spread.

Population reduction will be accomplished by war, disease, and starvation.  They are the most effective solutions to the problem.

Eugenics is a great idea in theory.  However, in practice, it will never work because social programs like this require the cooperation of the entire population.  You'll never convince religious zealots and other kooks with voting power to go along with this idea.  Many, many people consider reproduction a basic human right.  Good theory, though.

HUmans are meant to breed. Thats what is what sex boils down too.

You can try to act like some enlightened shmuck who is somehow above our animal nature, but at the end of the day sex is for procreation.

So many people these days are afraid of giving up some freedoms. It scares the shit out of them that the world might not revolve around them. So they do stupid ass shit, like have sex, get pregnant, then get amazed when they actually conceive a child. So what do they do? They fucking suck it out of them so they can continue the cycle.

Nothing is sacred to these fucks. They are cowards to the highest degree, and theres a very special place in hell for those who view the gift of life as something to be toyed with in the name of instant gratification :onfire:

I don't entirely agree with Froyd.

I think that sex is a beautiful part of life and certainly necessary for it, but just that, only a part.

many other factors are necessary for life to exist, and in my opinion, to have purpose.

the quality of life for the people of this planet is better than it has ever
been in the history of mankind, we now have far fewer wars, there's far less
violence, food is more widely available to the majority of the populace and
because of our technological advances we can get the food anywhere in the
world within hours of it's being harvested. we now have lesiure time

condoms and birth control are widely available for free or at very little
cost through county health departments and planned parenthood offices but
it's up to the people fucking to go get them and actually use them

I do not do this, even though my children are the light of my life. Others choice to not breed is just that, their choice.  You need to adjust who you hang with

My friends understand my reasoning or agree with me.

My family are the ones who look at me like im crazy, more than anyone else, and you cant get a new family. Most of my family started having kids around 18-22, without a real reason to do so. They just did it, like everyone before them. They never stopped to take a moment and just think about it, they just did it.

I'm not an expert on the subject, but I believe one of the main reasons why overpopulation is a problem is because of the economic consumption depleting natural resources.  In third world countries there is often less consumption per capita, so even if they have an overpopulation problem, it might not be as much of a problem if they are consuming less.

Also as far as I know, it's mostly people in first-world countries that bitch about overpopulation...I haven't heard too many third-world citizens complain about it, and even if they did, I don't think third-world overpopulation has a large effect on the living conditions of those of us living in the first-world, so that shouldn't matter to us anyways.

Obviously overpopulation affects some first-world areas too though, places such as Tokyo and large American cities...so solutions to first-world overpopulation should still definitely be considered.

Because of reasons stated above, first-world overpopulation might be even more of an issue than third-world population, contrary to what you said, because first-world populations consume more.

So even if things like issuing condoms and sex education don't help solve third-world problems, if they can still help solve first-world population then they can still be useful in addressing the whole problem IMO.

I am against childbirth because it is inherently non-consentual.

It is unethical to create a person without their consent, and impossible to get consent from someone who does not exist.

Wow, seriously? You'd get along real well with the likes of Hitler then. Do you really support forced (or shall we say "voluntary") sterilizations and abortions?

Do you really believe that there are "genetically" inferior people that do not deserve to reproduce? Who are these people exactly? The disabled? Blacks? Homosexuals? Jews? "Religious zealots and other kooks"?

My god man.

This is why I'm against gay marriage. If we let them get married, they will just start reproducing like rabbits, and soon America will be 80% gay.
