it really is what it says you have to find what works for your room see i use real loose poly in 2 inch holes but others find this not optimal in there room you can put the fan on low

yea I've been loosening my bottom holes with better results as well.  I'm also casing tho.

So I'm following this and I only get the evaporation line on one side of my tubs. Two different tubs, same pattern of one-sided evaporation. I think maybe it has something to do with the way my fans are positioned. I have two small 10" fans blowing up and away from the sides inside a grow cab I made for plant purposes. They're positioned more or less the same so I'm not sure why it's acting like that.

yep play with your fans and top holes but dont sweat it too much, the surface moisture is the most important so watch that

i agree. everyones using different conditions and climate like desert ect. for instance, i use a ceiling fan. also, another thing i notice, everyone incubates with tape on the holes. i just put the polyfil right in there, colonize, then birth in light under the fan. works perfectly.

Hey everyone! I really enjoy reading the vast piles of information on this site.

I have a question on monotubs that I believe is best asked here.

I think we all agree the advantage of a dialed-in monotub is that it's maintenance-free. If someone goes through many monotubs this is a huge advantage. Even for an individual doing one or two monotubs, dialing it in is certainly the least labor intensive way to go about the fruiting stage.

But.. What if you're a grower who thrives on spending time with your grow? What if you don't mind attending to the tub a few times a day? From what I've inferred though reading through the site, more FAE trumps all. It seems that misting and fanning throughout pinning and ceasing at the first signs of fruitbodies would be preferred... right?

Thanks for any input, guys. Frank, you're the man!

I don't mind misting my monos from time to time and I am fanatical about FAE. So I just leave my top holes open a lot of the time. An other way to go would be to fruit trays in a SGFC or green house.

you could do the grow open air while you're home, leave the top off and then you'll have to mist it every once and a while.

Cronicr has done some amazing open air grows, he would just make a tent out of saran or use a big baggie to cover it when he had to leave for a while so it wouldn't dry out.

Honestly my mono's give me about perfect FAE while retaining rh.  I don;t think I really could manage it better on my own.  I find opening them and messing with them will just offset flushes, dry shit out, and in general be more harmful than helpful.  I work from home, so I am here all the time (ALL THE MOTHER FUCKING TIME lol).  Les is more as the saying goes.

Who that be appropriate here?

cyans in a tub are a bit tricky...esp if u made the substrate thin.  its a little less set and forget than thick cube substrates that are able to retain their own humidity. but yea post some pics!!

Here is the set-up. You can see my space heater to the left. Fans next to it. The tub has polyurethane over the top, and then I place an old window over that for a better seal. Polyfill is stuffed in there mildly, and I just turned one fan on today, which is not pointing at any of the polyfill'd holes.

I haven't opened it since I put the spawned substrate into the tub. I did give the myc a light misting after opening and placement of it into the monotub. I am a little afraid that the glass dish is a little deep, and the myc will not get enough FAE at buttoning, therefore me having to open and fan and mist.

My last two tries got contam at that stage due to opening and misting and fanning. It would be great if I could set and forget, at least till some major pinning.

What do y'all think? Any advice is appreciated!

Also, I started fruiting yesterday after the myc stopped growing like it did in the first 24hrs after grain spwan to substrate. External temp is a constant 75 degrees.

You just spawned that 24 hours ago?

No spawned grain to substrate.

Here are couple more pics of the tub.

Three 1.5in dia. holes on both sides, no low holes.

Substrate is about 1/2in thick.

Btw, my heatpad is not on.

wow, pretty elaborate set up... are u sure u read the frank horrigan tek??

u need that tray covered in foil man.  its not 100% yet.  pan's also need a thin casing layer to fruit well, which u apply after substrate is 100%.
although u have moist perlite in that tub, unless there are holes in the bottom, and the tub is elevated, there will be little to no moisture loss/evaporation from the perlite, and so the air will be as humid as the room air (i.e. it will be dry)

Get it out of the fruiting chamber and cover it with foil until it's fully colonized.

Can I just over it in the fruiting chamber with the opaque lid that somes with the tuberware, allow 12/12 light?

Also, it was about 72 hrs ago that I moved the spawn to substrate. Not 24. I let it incubate for 48hrs, and it didn't really do much after the intial 24hrs of incubation.

I will re-lid it.
Thank you for the advice
