What about NDE's? I've read about them somewhat and it seems like there is more to us than just this life.

I think there are a lot of beliefs "more retarded" than reincarnation. I was born once and that was quite unexpected. Who am I to say it couldn't happen again?

Just about anybody who has studied the body, memories and their necessity to the concept of self.

Yeah, but besides educated people?

Is there any belief more retarded?

Somehow we are supposed to overlook the total lack of evidence and all of the internal inconsistencies merely because this myth was passed down and integrated into certain cultures?

"I believed in reincarnation in my last life." ~ Swami

i think it's more of a fun type belief that people like to think about.  if you really think it through it doesn't make any sense but it's a nice thought at first.

i think there are lots more retarded beliefs.  scientology's pretty fucking dumb.  really most all religious beliefs are pretty stupid and useless if you really think them though.  otherwise they're just common sense.  the only useful parts of religion are pretty obvious without believing in the religion.  at little off topic but anyway, i've thought about it because i've believed in all sorts of stupid shit.  it was fun to think about and then the reality of it kicked in.

usually the way things are is better than the fantasy -> ex. the life you get now is the only one you get, act accordingly!

i once went to a used book store and looked at l ron hubbards other books.  before he made the religion.  really pretty average sci-fi.  to think that someone known as a science fiction writer could then write a true story about aliens on earth is just so unbelievable.  and yet, it happened.

i also once saw a documentary where dan aykroyd talks about aliens existing.  who would think, that the star of coneheads, a movie about aliens on earth, would also believe aliens have come to earth in real life?! : D

We need to reincarnate John Bonham.  Or at least his Moby Dick.

Proving that reincarnation is a real occurance is pretty simple.

Imagine looking through a window split into four panes, to another window split into four panes, to a granite building with another window with four panes in it, that is shiny and reflective but you can still see 50% through.

I will post out of the blue without reading many answers:
Reincarnation becomes rational, if one sees the 'I' as only a pointer in spacetime. In one or another way, it 'reincarnates' ...

I have done very intensive past life regression therapy over a 6 month period a couple of years ago. It was pretty interesting stuff but I find it very hard to believe any of the experiences I had were authentic past lives. I did learn a bit about history through these experiences which when checked with wikipedia turned out to be true, however I think it is far more likely to be my subcouncious memories than another life.

For those on the fence about past life regression I truely recommend it, amazing experiences which changed my life for the better. I  still however remain a huge skeptic on the subject of past lives and do not believe in them. OC even as a skeptic I recommend you find some way to partake in past life regression, it will at least be an interesting experience for you to look back on.

Not sure what that means. Skeptics usually research topics way better than believers.

I mean that even though you don't believe in shit like this (with good reason), it doesn't mean you can't give it a go and gain something from the experience, even if that something is just more reassurance that the whole past life thing is stupid.

By the time you're my age, and OC's you've looked into most of this stuff. Remember that at one time we were basically the opposite of the hard core cynic most see us as here.

I believe he has looked into it, I am just recommending the experience of past life regression even though he doesn't believe in past lives.
