Chick-Fil-A controversy
    #16640490 -

a short time ago in a land very close (Georgia), Dan Cathy, the president of
the Chick-Fil-A corporation came out in opposition to gay marriage, not as the
company's views but his own individual views. Of course the press ran with it
as quickly as it came to light that Rham Emanuel, the halfwit mayor of Chicago
spoke up and said "we dont need no damned chick-fil-a in this damned town"
causing a mild outrage since a minority of people in the US support gay
marriage, another minority dont support gay marriage and the vast majority
simply dont care if gays get married or not

As the media runs wild with this story and support from companies such as Jim Henson Company have dropped from chick-fil-a this brings us to the present day, it seem that Mike Huckabee called for August 1st as a Chick-Fil-A support day in which the increase in revenues set world sales records by lunch time.

it seems that when government officials speak out and the media chimes in
that their goals always blow up on them, this was mean to kill their
business and yet they've increased steadily across the board. This has
caused several other companies such as the Nancy Pelosi Endorsed KFC to come
out and support gay marriage, KFC has been in a sales slump, and as far as I
can tell, this isnt going to help because Pelosi has spoke in favor of KFC
Wendy's has also come out in favor of gay marriage and while they have taken
the #2 spot from burger king it seems their sales are also in a decline just
like McDonalds with whom the whole gay marriage/fast food crap started when
they came out publicly in support and then suddenly pulled their support for
the National Gay and Lesbian Chamber of Commerce (seriously?)

this long set up was to introduce us to Adam Smith, the CFO/Corporate
Lecturer, the man that decided to tender his resignation via intimidating a
Chick-Fil-A employee and posting it on youtube. Adam used to work for Vante,
Inc., once his employers discovered his video which I'm sure he bragged
about in the office they ended his employment.  the way I see it, he resigned
he was so excited about getting free water, I wonder how excited he was to
get his pink slip?

his best line was "Have a good day... I'm a nice guy by the way, and I'm
totally heterosexual.. not a gay bone in me, I just can't stand the hate,
you know? It's gotta stop, guys. Stand up." sure adam, maybe not right now
but I'm sure there's been a lot of gay bones in you in the days prior

:smilingpuppy:

when will the media, the opposing hate groups that support the discrimination
against straights such as Gay and Lesbian Chamber of Commerce, political
figures and the others realize, if you want to hurt a company, simply stop
talking about them, they've given weeks of free advertising to chick-fil-a
that could span into months, when will they realize the basic rule of
marketing, that even bad publicity is publicity and it always generates
revenues. when Dan Cathy said he didnt support gay marriage, had no one
talked about it they wouldnt be seeing the boost in sales that will last for
many months

A short time ago? The owner has publicly been against gay people for a while now, politicians are just now cashing in on it.

Also, its one thing to be against gay marriage as a personal opinion, and another to funnel millions of dollars into "traditional" advocacy groups to keep equal rights from gays.

My headphone port is still broken but it seems like everyone wins here.  The gays win because the issue is bouncing around everywhere.  chick-fil-a wins because they are in the news.  I have a really hard time believing that people were like fuck gays!  let's eat chick-fil-a!!!!  It seems more like they saw it in the news and were like, "man, I haven't had that shit in a while!"

I drove by a chick-fil-a today and the line was fucking rediculous. All these people are waiting in line for an insane amount of time to buy some fast food because somehow that supports the notion that gay marriage is wrong. . .

Also, there were some guys sitting out front with a huge sign that said "HOMO SEX IS SIN"

This whole ordeal is so fucking stupid. I won't be eating at chick-fil-a anytime soon. Not because I give a damn about some douchebags opinion against gays having the right to get married, but because I don't want to wait an hour to eat some "fast" food.

Meanwhile the Raising Cane's down the street is pretty badass

should we exercise equality and say that it's wrong to support and donate to
advocacy groups regardless of their goals?

I personally always want a chick-fil-a on sunday because sunday is the one
day I cant get one, f course it's been years since I ate one and not because
of their views but because I dont eat fast food often, I do recall the last
time I did go there it was with a crew working with me, one guy screwed up
and asked for a chicken sandwich during breakfast hours and instead of the
standard rejection you'd get from other fast food places they promptly
prepared the food and served him what he wanted. service like that is rare
which is why the company has grown as large as it has over the years

It's so retarded supporting the "biblical definition of marriage"
You need to know what you're talking about when you say that:The top 8 ways to be traditionally married according to the bible

Also, this company funnels money to Exodus International.  A horrible organization.
You can read about them here:

A while ago I friended most of my highschool class and one of them was a gay conservative.  It's hilarious how full of himself he is and how weirdly he reacted to this chick-fil-a controversy.  At first he was offended, but now he is supporting the whole first amendment side of it.  He even went to the costumer appreciation day they had.

He's so full of himself too, it's hilarious.  This is his most recent post;

Sometimes I think people over look the kind of strength it requires to be gay and conservative. You give up a lot to voice your political beliefs and you risk a lot in the process. Its so easy to come out of the closet and be an openly gay man in today's society, but coming out and declaring your conservatism... THAT takes real courage, a strong stomach, and nerves of steel.

There was a funny exchange earlier today involving him and another fag.  It was involving this picture and he said it was probably a leftist gay person who did it.  Then another gay guy came on saying he was tired of his shallow and generalistic posts and that he is going to defriend him or something.  He basically had a melt down all caps locked out and stuff.

I don't agree with his views and he is very generalstic but the only reason I don't unfriend him is because the drama queen he is and how much shit he instigates...it hilarious.

I didn't say that.

I'm saying its all well and good to be for or against anything. He's exercising his rights, and because of that, people are exercising their right to not eat at Chik-Fil-A.

The sob story you keep hearing from the right is that he's being persecuted for his beliefs. Really? Why is it when someone disagrees with right wing Christians its persecution? He has the right to be against equality and people have their rights to find that unsavory and boycott his business.

Yeah.  I really can't fault "the public" for railing against chik-fil-a because he is the fuckin CEO of the company.  Unless you believe a corporation is not a summation of its parts, he is not entitled to "separate" views.

Bad publicity is better than no publicity.

Honestly I can't believe how much America cares about fast food, that now we're making political statements by picking and choosing brands of artery-clogging garbage. The social-networking upheaval over this is awe-inspiring.

I'm with the boycott because I believe ex-gay organizations should be starved, but I've never even eaten at Chick-Fil-A. There aren't any in my area.

I saw a facebook status the other day along the lines of:

"Today in America, people are eating processed chicken and artificially flavored soda because they think homosexuality is unnatural."

Fun fact: The Bible mentions gluttony 20 times and homosex only 4. Wonder if god cares more about gays getting married or fatass bigots stuffing grease into their faces.

And yes, its about god. Its all about god.
