we don't get all that many anti-drug adverts in the UK.. In fact I'd say they are quite rare. the website talktofrank.com isn't really anti drug, it just says, to paraphrase, "we know you're going to do it anyway, we can't condone it, but here are the risks." I think that's pretty sensible.

it goes something like

Regarding the "war on drugs" I have my own opinions which I'm sure most people here won't like. The one key element I think that matters most is responsible use of whatever it is you plan on using. To sit here and deny that there aren't risks involved while being intoxicated by any substance is just ignorant. If you drive while you're stoned/drunk/rolling/etc, you're plain stupid. I know what it's like when sometimes you "have no choice" and God knows I've driven too many times stoned than I should have...and I will fully admit I was stupid for doing it, but that doesn't mean it's right. We all need to accept responsibility for our actions; both the action of taking a drug and our actions while we're on that drug.

Another thing I feel strongly about is that as far as psychedelics go, I don't think people should be tripping until they're at least 21. If I could have a quarter for every teenager I had to sit with at parties to help them through a bad trip because "they heard it was cool to take [insert psychedelic here], I could retire. I'm frankly just tired of seeing so many people dose any drug they can get their hands on regardless of what the consequences might be. If you're going to dose, you should be making informed decisions and making them in mature fashion.

If we ever want to see weed or soft psychedelics legalized, the whole "anti-machine" attitude needs to be dropped and instead start living up to responsible use. If you don't, you simply propogate the stereotypes the anti-drug platform wants non-users to believe.

I'm all about allowing people to make their own choices; regardless if I agree with those choices. As long as your choices don't interfere with me or my life, so be it...knock yourself out. But if you're not willing to be responsible for yourself while you take your drugs, and you put me or my family at risk with your behavior, then we're not on the same side of this "war." You can have your cake and eat it too, but to do so you need to be responsible and honest; both with yourself and those around you.

Boppity, I understand your concerns, but I disagree in a couple respects. I think you are fuckin stupid if you drive drunk or rolling or tripping, but not high. I've driven endless times high, and although I agree it's not a good idea for some people, I am very very confident in my driving skills when I'm high. I even find myself unconsciously driving 3 or 4 miles under the limit. The biggest mistake I've made driving stoned is making a wrong turn. It doesn't affect my coordination like being drunk would, that I wouldn't try. I've been in one minor car accident in my life, and it was while I was completely straight.

I understand your concern with people waiting until they're 21 to try psychedelics, but what about all the people who are mature enough to handle it earlier on? I'm 18, and I know all the risks involved and I can handle it. Some people are just plain dumb asses. Those teens you speak of must have been stupid and ignorant individuals because everytime I've seen the sales or exchange of psychedelics, the dealer always has a conversation with the buyer explaining to them when they should take it and how they should go about doing it. I, myself, was on this site researching shrooms for months, and I even read Leary's adaptation to the Tibetan Book of the Dead all before growing my own and trying them. I've had a bad trip, but it was my own fuckin fault, and I handled it on my own.

I honestly believe that it means being informed about the drug you are willing to take, no matter what age you are. Thats why I am so impressed and happy to have found websites like the shroomery and the Erowid vaults. Doing your research counts for alot when it comes to drugs, if you are 18 or 80.

Marijuana is not addictive in itself. The same people who would get addicted to pot and be destructive would have found something else to get addicted to. If you start smoking pot everyday, it becomes a habit. I bet there are some people who would go fucking nuts if they couldn't watch TV anymore, or play poker, or baseball. I got busted and put on probation about a month ago, and quit smoking pot cold turkey, and haven't experienced withdrawl whatsoever. I can even smell friends smoking it and it doesn't bother me. And I used to smoke it at least once a day!

its not the drugs that make people do stupid things, its the person. each person reacts differently to each drug, and they need to realize their own limits when it comes to drug use. in a post before the guy says psychedelics shouldnt be used until 21? why? some people under 21 CAN handle themselves on psychedelics,and some cant, just as some people OVER 21 can handle themselves on psychedilics and some cant. it all depends on the person.

Ya, I realized the whole age-limit thing was gonna sound rude.  And I agree there are plenty of younger adults who are mature enough to handle psychedelics...I guess what I really should have said was I wish more younger people would realize the differences between psychedelics and other drug experiences and to not treat them so lightly.  Especially the harder stuff out there like DMT.  I've witnessed two people really hurt themselves emotionally and psychologically with 5-meo-dmt, one of which now is institutionalized.  That's not good.  He was smoking it every day like it was weed.

I am sorry if my post offended anyone who is mature enough to make informed decisions...I just wish there were more of you out there.  :smile:
