I saw a really good one today where there was this 13-year-old kid and he was saying something like "My brother started smoking pot around my age. He never got into any trouble though. He didn't go to jail, didn't go into harder drugs, didn't kill anybody." The boy then descends his stairs into the basement where his brother in his twenties sits on a couch with long hair and a beard and he says "Well.... he never really did anything." It then reads on the screen: "Your future: the anti-drug" or something like that. It's pretty funny.

I saw the older brother commercial this week as well. I don't see what was so wrong with it...I know far too many slackers who stay stoned all day instead of going to work or dealing with whatever needs dealt with. Unfortunately there's nothing untrue about that commercial. What they DON'T want to show you is a commercial of the attorney who comes home from work to his wife and family and then goes outside on the patio to smoke a joint before dinner. They don't want you to see a professor smoking a bowl after receiving an award at some scholarly event to celebrate her achievement. Heaven forbid anyone considered a "positive role model" for our culture should ever been shown being a responsible smoker. And yet the very next commercial you see is a group of guys out getting drunk and chauvenistically hitting on women for a beer commercial.

Makes you wonder...

Love & Light,

Boppity

Agh...I hate that! I see so many distructive behaviors when it comes to alcohol and getting drunk and yet it seems that it is accepted and even encouraged. I don't understand it.

I haven't seen any of these ads, although I would like to. That one about the older brother pisses me off. So what if people want to "waste" their lives? as though the only way not to waste your life is by getting a respectable, corporate job. That is what I dislike most about the part of America where I grew up, everybody lives to work instead of working to live, and the percentage of people who think that their jobs are meaningful, productive or personally important is negligible. I big up the older brother, even if he might be a tard, 'cause at least he's not working some shitty $8/hour telemarketing job which will turn you into a zombie as much as any drug!

I smoke around 3-6 joints a day with me g/f, and we both have full-time jobs own a house, have two dogs, go camping on weekends etc...

Marijuana makes you lazy, is like majiuana makes you pregnant.

But if a lazy person smokes it, then they won't suddenly be inspired to go out and do stuff..

Haha..lets not kid ourselves though, if Im going to mow my lawn or something and hit the bong first, the lawn usually doesnt get done.

But the anti-drug commercial I like is with the two kids who smoke some weed and one ends up shooting the other. I can't understand how we blame marijuana for this instead of parents leaving guns out and around for 11 year olds to play with....

It's not the parent's fault, nor the weed's fault in that instance. The drugs didn't make him pick up the gun and pull the trigger. But we all know we can never be held accountable for our own behavior...it's always somebody or something else's fault.

Well different people react differently, some people are the same way w/ alcohol. You have afew shots before mowing the lawn you probably wouldn't do it. Thats where you have to realize that and be responsible, work before play. I know in some cases (not drug wise) if I try fun before work I'll just end up having twice as much fun and no work done at the end.

Not everyone is like that tho, I personally do drugs and work just fine. I would get into a pattern for cutting grass and I would almost automaticly cut it while being lost in deep thought :tongue2: I do the samething w/o drugs to, I'll just be working and kinda start say dreaming and before I realize it I'll be done doing w/e.

I personally dont see it as anyones fault. It was an accident after all. People always want to put the blame on someone. True there are afew things that could have changed what happened but it still wasn't anyones fault.

If I had to blame someone it would first be the parents. They broke the law first, guns are suppost to be well hiden from anywhere a kid could normal find it, and they are required to have safety locks. I think these only apply if you have kids but the parents obviously did.

Second thing I would blame would either be the kid for playing with the gun and pointing it (he knew what he was doing even high) or the pot. Both are pretty close, but if pot were to be blamed it would go back to the kids. The pot didn't smoke itself. Actully I think a better thing to blame would be the 'stoned kid.'

Like if a drunk crashes into someone I wouldn't blame the alcohol. The 'drunk driver' is at fault. The alcohol didn't do anything.

This is the last time I type right after waking up lol

"if Im going to mow my lawn or something and hit the bong first, the lawn usually doesnt get done."

Interesting how you would mention that.  But when you smoke pot so much you don't get as stoned or burntout as you normally would.  I always have some tokes before doing my chores....it's the only way i'll do em!

Well, FWIW, I've heard that pot actually -has- been linked with amotivational syndrome or something similar to that -- ie, you don't want to do shit -- but that only happens if you smoke before you're about 16 or so.

So -- Kids!  Don't smoke pot!

Why are they spending money on anti hallucinogin commercials I thought they dont even care about them that much. I guesse the idea behind the comercial is that "hey this is the type of things you see on shrooms so you dont need to take them to see this stuff". Ha, well they forgot to mention that there is a little more to it than that. First of all your high, and I think the visuals are often times much more than what could ever be computer generated because the number of bits is more than even your eye can see because it is occuring directly in your brain. Also its amazing to relize while you are witnessing it that this is the product of your brain. But why do they even care about shrooms, are they witholding info about its dangers? As beutiful and intense as the expirience can be, I wouldnt take a single dose if I was shown that there is a risk of brain damage. Perhaps they have alot of data that they keep classified because it was obtained be expirimenting on POWs

Kids are sensitive to things. I dont think kids should play video game or watch TV much cuz they do get lazy. Same w/ pot and computers
