universe and its dimensions
    #1616569 - 06/07/03 12:21 PM (20 years, 9 months ago)

I dont know about you guys, but the universe is something that really confuses me. SOmetimes I wish i could live forever just to find out the secrets of it. Like, IS it neverending, and if so, how is that possible. but if it isnt neverending, what is after it. someone started talking to me about the dimensions. he said that we(humans) live in the third dimension, and that fish(just one example) live in the second dimension...i dont really know what he meant, but then he said if we can crack the fourth dimension we can see whats after our universe.....what are your thoughts about this?

I try not to limit myself with talk of dimensions and whatnot.

For awhile (when I was like 8 years old) I was really hung up on Dimension X... but the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles were eventually able to stop Shredder and Krang's plans at conquering Earth.

Well I think what your friend meant about fish being in the 2nd dimension is that they exist in group-consciousness, or 42 & 2. Theoretically, the Aborigines also exist at this level, thus the Dreamtime. Makes sense to me. There are definately different levels of consciousness on this planet.. Look at the way schools of fish or birds move in lateralized, synchronized, harmonic patterns. The theory goes that the 3rd dimension is a 'disharmonic' layer of reality, but a necessary step to the 4th dimension, which is like the 2nd in it's harmony.

Actually, we live in the fourth dimension -- the three spatial ones plus time.  It's the fifth that's a step above our ken.

"Actually, we live in the fourth dimension -- the three spatial ones plus time."

  I'd be willing to agree to that.

"It's the fifth that's a step above our ken."

I wouldn't say that it is that far away.  Stepping  to the edge of the mountain, you realize it is within reach.

The Universe ? yeah, we've got a complate handle on it... it's all been explained,
just pick up the Hickhikers Guide to the Galaxy series...
just remember that the answer is 42...
we're onto more important things now, like the creation of the ultimate sandwich...
now THAT'S  thoughie...

"Actually, we live in the fourth dimension -- the three spatial ones plus time."

Yeah man  We're time-travelling right now!!

then we need a change of perspective on "what's going on."

"Actually, we live in the fourth dimension -- the three spatial ones plus time."

I was thinking about this statement a bit more and started wondering if time isn't just another spacial dimension.. another axis for "stuff" to exist on, which gives more room for more "stuff"

"What if time is an illusion though?"
--------------------

In my opinion, that statement depends on the direction you decide to view, relative to your reference point: you.

If you look in the same direction as your physical eyes do, it is real, and quite "static" [* I'm wondering if static is a good word to use *]; if you look in the direction of your mind's eye, it invites illusion: it is very fluid and "magical" - yet that dosen't make it any less real.... It is just virtual [ unseen in reality ].

It is however, connected and overlapped. Everyone goes into the virtual to pull out a piece of "reality". That is an idea/ plan [* a plan is an idea about to become action.. like, for example, if you want to say hello to someone.*]. It happens throughout all of the time.

Spacially, regarding magnitude, I would consider what is virtual, then, to be "bigger".

That does not mean more dense.

Rather, volumetric.

Lol... Analogy: "Mind Expanding"

To put a little perspective on this part, it makes sense, at least to me, that volume increases as a result if increased particle motion yielding in a decrease in density.

[*I believe, the concept of, this relationship has been brought to the table here in the S&P Forum before*]

So, if you use the tennets of logic, which seems to be dominant throughout your surrounding environment, and you follow those tennets to come out with an answer that = true, then you've brought something from the virtual to the real.

Here is the best line I've come across to support this:

What the mind can conceive, and BELIEVE, the mind can achieve !
