OP, listen up. I'm heavily invested in a MMORPG since 2007 now. I had my share of close ones dying RL, permanent goodbyes and whatnot. I've been in that boat of breaking character or not.
Here's what you do: go to Gmail or some wellknown email provider and make an account in the name of your roleplay character, or something you and she share thats private, in the other reality.
Break IC and say something like:
"Dear, if you wish to meet deeper, contact me here *your email*, if not I will be who I was for you until the end."
Don't force her to become more than you have been all her life, just offer the option, allowing to decline.
If she doesnt want to, dont push. Be her husband she knows and loves till the end and let God sort it out. If she takes you up on it then take it from there.
Its gonna be possibly her last wish. Dont force it by stating you want to meet, leave it entirely open for her to decide.
I've done it. A wonderful person died and chose to remain the Orc I knew him as. That is fine, we only get to see a small glimpse of the persons we meet anyway, and what matters is the mind you interact with. Who cares its an Orc, a princess in a beautiful palace.. or in reality maybe a sickly lady in a bed somewhere.
It doesnt matter, really. Seeing someone and knowing their RL doesnt make it any more real. What it can do is upset the fantasy you chose to share with each other for a decade.
Its fine man. If she wants to remain the virtual wife you loved in the RPG for all those years, let it be. What you shared, the emotions, the feelings you gave each other, thats whats really real and thats what really matters.
/me gives his deceased Orc Warrior friend a good hug on his way out, blinks in the light and walks the down the cobbled path of his friend's house a final time.
