mushroom religion - Terrence Mckenna

ok... so there are 1000's of books and articles talking about how mushrooms relate to religion. and terence mckenna even speaks through a godlike mushroom the hallucinations book. But why isn't there a religion for people who believe that mushrooms are godlike? maybe I just havnt read about it??
but terrence mckenna's ideas seem like the only believeable ones?
thoughts?

there probably is some type of cult i would guess it would be like shamanism though almost like how shamans look at the hallucinogen as a gateway to god/heaven or to the devil/hell. Probably in south america or maybe europe but i cant see it anywhere else.
