Are vegans allowed to eat Mesodinium?

Mesodinium Chamaeleon are either plant or animal. Using its hundreds of tiny hairs, dashing through the water to find a plant that it eats. Then it transforms itself into a plant.

Technically I think the plant would be considered to be an animal product, since the plant is created by using the resources of a live creature. For example an egg is not an animal, but requires the chickens resources to create, therefore it is classified as an animal product and not acceptable to idi..I mean vegans.

So is a Venus Flytrap or a Napenthes vegetable or animal? Most of their nutrients come from the soil, not the animals they eat. :hmm:

Carnivorous plants are not created directly from a living creatures resources although living creatures may supplement their growth. I presume the plants are created via a seed or cutting, therefore I personally would not consider them an animal product.

I think parasitic mushrooms however would be considered an animal product, as they require an animal to be used for it's creation.

I was never stating this err...thing to be an animal, because once it becomes a plant it is a plant. The reason it would not be kosher for a vegan to eat it is because not only do vegans not eat animals, but they also do not eat animal products which is what I would believe the plant to be.
