Yes it is depressing to me too.  Usually we can put this horror out of mind and do something else.  But here it is, and here we are, and there is relatively little you or I can do about it. 

Except not reproduce. 

IMO not reproducing is the greatest gift most any human can give to the human world and to reduce the unimaginable amounts of suffering we see and help create.

2 things I do to help:

1. Spread as many psychedelics as possible
2. Devote all profits (beyond minimal living expenses) to feeding hungry people

Overpopulation definitely isn't the issue.
Unfortunately it's faaaar more complicated than that.

You bet it's more complicated than that. But the problems with food distribution and growing, deforestation, war, nationalism, pollution, greed, etc are not going to be fixed due to human emotional dysfunction so the only recourse is not to reproduce.

Of course that is the very last thing most humans would consider.  I'm just throwing it out for those who have ears to hear it.

So when we 'save' millions of people, then what happens?

Does the population then not increase?

And then the stress on the limited resources increases, then what happens?

Jesus, is there not a single do-gooder capable of reasoning this out? :rolleyes:

The fault is in the system. Europe and America throws away food in that amount that could feed the starved people three times.

The fault lies in a combination of fear, weakness, collective stupidity and imbalance.

A small group of group of randoms everywhere round the world get lucky taking advantage of the collective stupidity of the overwhelming majority and so manifest an imbalance. The people then grow weaker and more fearful so the imbalance grows. It's hard to rise up against tyrants when you got no foods.

To be fair, poorer people breed like crazy. The survival mechanism is going haywire. Regardless, giving is not much of a big thing in the global mind.


Let's be real though, "limited resources", LMAO. I rofled. We're living in abundance on an obscene level. Sure all those africans aren't getting iPads each anytime soon. But there's damn well enough food around to feed a few generations by which time they can sustain/annihilate themselves.

Abundance =/= unlimited. Obesity is an epidemic on the same planet getting ravaged by mass starvation.

Overpopulation is going to be a problem either way. Doesn't mean we can't make it a scenic route to WW3.

Also the earth is going nowhere dude. It's a self sustaining system. The forests need not be stripped bare and the oceans need never run dry (where would the water go?) if people could get their shit together and work with the system of nature.

The problem is in the wealth distribution disparity.

I sometimes get very depressed by this stuff.And its not like they do it to them selfs.The first world countries stand on the tops of the 3rd world countries.If they didn't exist we wouldn't have such glorious lives.
I'd say be nice to everyone you meet.And apart from that just don't give a shit.
Not giving a shit really helps.I think everyone should try this at least once.I mean if you have no connection or never see them to anyone fuck'em.If the internet wasn't around,  people would care a lot less about other countries.
Sure give to charity just because, but don't give to you Provence, community, country or neighboring countries.Anymore then you would somewhere across the pond.

And also the only reason they have so many children is so that one of them will survive or take care of them when they are older.
If people weren't in impoverished countries you think they would still have as much children?

I guess you never ate sea food and are unaware that the most populous fish in the ocean 100 years ago (cod) have been overfished to the point where they are so scarce they are no longer fished for. Or that the size of swordfish caught is less than 1/3 the size of 50 years ago as they are harvested young and younger. Or that Chesapeake Bay, the main shellfish provider was polluted and over fished to the point of cripling a hug industry and drive prices skyward.

Jelly fish popluations are growing exponentially causing major problems due to the ecological imbalances caused by overfishing.

But as to water, most of the worlds major aquafiers (underground lakes) are nearing depletion due to large-scale agriculture. These lakes took millions of years to form and cannot be replenished by a good rain.

Things are heading towards a crisis any way you look at it. More people will only exacerbate this.

Feeding people unable to feed themselves and then telling them not to breed is not going to happen.
