yes, but we are talking about a diagnosed mentally ill person here, and he's not asking about astral projection or lucid dreaming.

exactly, im just saying that maybe he should be careful with meditating too
so what i said was dont go and tell him to meditate when you really dont know how that can effect him (let alone a schizophrenic)
i was pointing out that even with meditation, the end result could be the same(he said he wanted to see shit and lucid dreaming and astral projection are the best ways)
im saying they can both be equally dangerous

both are NOT equally dangerous lol. meditation has been proven time and again to have nothing but positive effects on the brain. saying meditation and psychadelic drugs can have the same negative effects is a poorly researched response.

i think ahmcarri is just high or tripping and im sure it makes complete sense to them, but i think everyone can agree that meditation/dreaming are NOT going to cause a mental break like mushrooms could.

was meditation and while having schizophrenia ever proven time and times again to be loads and loads better for them?

well he said he wants to trip and see shit
so lucid dreaming and astral projection are very extreme forms of meditation, there is no doubt that it can have an impact on the person. good or bad
im just trying to say that we really dont know what goes on in his head and if traveling deeper into his mind would be a healthy thing for him to do.

also we aren't talking about making him better, he wants to have fun. he said so

ahmcarri, do you have any evidence that meditation could get out of control and have negative effects? I'm not trying to be a wiseass...genuinely curious, because I've never heard of stuff like that happening with meditation.

fun doesnt always equal better. you obviously havent done much research on meditation (which for the record theres a whole bunch of evidence and personal sites that suggest meditation is also good for schizophrenics.)

this back and forth is starting to annoy me.

im telling OP to stay off drugs and maybe try meditation which has numerous positive effects on the mind and body no matter what age or mental status.

your telling him that it could have just as bad effects as doing a psychadelic......which it wont.

moral of the story OP, if you have read up to this point....DO YOUR OWN RESEARCH DONT RELY ON PEOPLE ON HERE FOR THE HARD AND TRUE ADVICE.

If you can handle your weed pretty well, then I owuld suggest you get your hands on some good haze hash and don't smoke it, but eat it. (or drink it, make hash butter then you can mix it with nearly everything)
When eaten instead of smoked this can get you a decent psychedelic experience. It's not comparable to mushrooms, but it is a whole other experience than smoked weed.

evidence regarding schizophrenics that astral project and come back safely every time? no sadly i dont,
but i wish there was some research on it so we could actually know for sure before telling this guy its safe for him to do.

i actually believe that there is a point to where it isnt meditation anymore, its just your mind let lose and free with no direction. or maybe you hold on to a little train of thought

which is why i  really dont like calling astral projection meditation. its what you get to after meditation.
thats the name for releasing "your own dmt"(or your own form)

we just dont know enough about it all
the spiritual side is the easiest way to explain it (spiritual is simple, scientific takes evidence)

edit:if there is another way to trip balls without drugs other than astral projection or lucid dreaming (which is just a less intense astral projection) please let me know

so your argument is that because theres not studies that show there are positive OR negative effects on schizophrenics who astral project (which anyone who is into meditation knows you dont astral project overnite it usually takes a while, months even years for some people.) that it shouldnt be done?

whereas there are LOTS AND LOTS of studies that show doing psychadelics is a BAAAAAD idea for schizophrenics.

just using your logic soley. (which in my opinion is flawed) im gonna go with the lesser bad of the 2. the one that no one has ever benefited negatively from. meditation/OBE's/Lucid dreaming. talking from a scientific standpoint.

dont throw in the spiritual angle because this isnt a spiritual issue for this guy.

I have schizoaffective disorder. If I smoke pot, I go crazy (psychotic and paranoid) If I take acid, I have a great time

Don't know about mushrooms yet, I hope they still work with the combination of medications I'm on.

Try it, you might have a great experience, or find out that you should never do mushrooms again. Then again, it might not work for you.

LSD shouldn't work for me because of my medications, but it does for whatever reason. Everybody's different.

first off let me clarify that i am no longer talking about meditation in general. im talking about the state called astral projection, and the road of learning leading up to that level. the one that you hallucinate extremely easily in, the one i would assume he would want to try if he was going to not do the mushrooms.

next. no that is not my argument. i am not arguing. i have continued to state/clarify my case as you attack my beliefs over and over.
i am 0% spiritual
i never once sad that he should never try it. im saying, "be careful when going really deep, its uncharted land." i was warning that the high end meditation can be very much similar to psychedelics but that these higher states in meditation are not nearly extensively research as the drug world is. which is why one really only finds "spiritual facts" on astral projection and not as much science. it sucks.

i didn't throw a spiritual angle. where did i say he needed to be spiritual?

my logic is flawed? it could really be your logic that is flawed, but you and me might never learn whose logic is truly flawed.

overnight? were we talking about how long it takes to become a master astral projector? did i say he was going to do it in a night?

just because all this time we didn't know about it, its not something we need to possibly fear? im not saying it happens, im not saying it doesn't. im just saying be careful.
i have in no way, ever, told him to do anything but be cautious, almost anything can make schizophrenia worse.

Don't do it! The risk is too great. I had a friend who had been acting a little bit differently but nothing worrying at all. He was always with us when we tripped and became more and more curious as years went by. We tripped with him on one hit of acid and that was that. No one chills at his place anymore. He covered himself in tattoos. He thinks the free masons have tapped his phone line, that there are cameras in his house, that he's being tested by the masons secretly. He thinks celebrities direct their songs towards him and claims to have discovered the meaning behind the bible. I hate the thought of it but he should be on meds. And I hate the guilt I feel as well. Psychedelics are strange in the way they open up your mind. He shouldn't have tripped, it opened up and spilled over parts of his psyche that shouldn't have been touched. Now I don't trip with anyone who hasn't previously. Unlike any other category of drugs, the psychedelic profile is very unpredictable.

I'm a pretty mentally stable person (diagnosed with ADHD as a kid, but i think ADHD is an excuse for shitty teachers who cant keep kids attentions) and this is the kind of thing that makes me ambivalent about trying Psychedelics. I dont have any experience but i would say dont do it or if you must be in an extremely comfortable environment with only one or two loved ones or very close friends.

I'm really sorry OP but i'm going to have to recommend against doing and psychedelics.

All drugs affect everyone differently, but the reality is psychedelics make psychotic disorders worse most of the time.

Also, your are on powerful anti-psychotic drugs which will probably stop the psychedelics from working at all. This would mean to take psychedelics you'd first have to stop taking your medication and i'm sure you realise how that's going to end.

If you decide to go ahead anyway, please be careful - alcoholics can get liver transplants and crackfiends can get false teeth, but you only have one brain and it's irreplaceable.

Farewell bro :frown:

Out of curiosity, what if he attempted the trip with a few Xanax on hand? If you started regretting eating them early on you could probably take a xanax or two and stop your trip almost immediately

Don't eat psychedelics, you have schizophrenia.  how old are you anyway?  You say that the meds your on work very well and that your completely stable.  Why the hell would you fuck with that with powerful mind altering substances?? How recklessly incompetent are you?

A high dose of an atypical anti psychotic, two kinds of anti anxiety meds, an anticonvulsant, and an antidepressant.

I do it pretty frequently without any negative effects. Not saying that that means that OP should give it a try, but I was willing to take the risk to find out if I could still safely trip. Turns out I can.
