Need your opinion on this

I'm in my 50's and plan on doing shrooms for the first time.  I've read that the best place to be while tripping is in a place you are comfortable and happy being in.  For me that's my pool.

I have a 4ft deep pool, and I find it to be the most relaxing and meditative place.  But I've read suggestions to stay away from water. 

Now I plan to take a very conservative dose, say 2g.  The dose calculator describes a level 2 trip.  Nothing too crazy.  No ego death or seeing god (I assume.)  Am I asking for it being in my pool in that state?  Opinions?

yes i have gone swimming while on shrooms while on smaller doses. but since its your first time you may want to stay away even though its only 4 ft deep just to be safe. or just wait after you eat the shrooms see how hard your trippin then make that call. either way i hope you have a great time and enjoy every moment of your trip!

You should be fine, I would gauge myself and swim around to be sure you can still handle yourself, and if you think it's getting too intense just get out of the pool

Of course a sitter would help too, but you should be fine on 2g

Okay, either way, PLEASE let us know how it was for you.  I want to know how doing these kinds of drugs changes with age.
I'm thinking about letting my mother experience mushrooms, but idk if it's a great idea with her age.

Also, I personally believe you'll be fine, but lay out or something to wait for the trip to peak and once you see how beautiful the world of this psychedelic is, take a dip;
if you're ready of course...

Oh and if you do get a sitter, my advice is to have him/her stay inside and check up on you every so once in a while, so that you're alone.
Honestly the last thing I want when I'm having a not so great experience is attention/questions :confused:

Like a few others have said, I'd suggest taking the shrooms and letting your trip settle in for a bit, and then you can decide if you want to get in the pool. Honestly, it really won't be much of a decision, the right choice will seem obvious when the time comes. You'll see what I mean soon. :smile:

yes the pool is fun on low doses, like stated above a sitter isnt a bad idea incase you slip or whatnot.

You'll be just fine.  Buoyancy while tripping mildly is a great feeling.

Just remember:

1) Wear some sunscreen.
2) You can't breathe water.

Like some other people have said, feel it out a bit first. Maybe sit on the edge with your feet in the water for the first hour, then if you feel up to it, hop in. Again, a sitter wouldn't hurt.

There are am number of people on here over 50.... Best time to trip IMHO

You will be fine... Take the advice for sunscreen or wear a hat
Also, don't have expectations... Just go with it... If you get done with the water, have someplace else to go.... Indoor with tunes, walk in a park, bedroom...

Big advise... Stay hydrated. Don't forget to drink water... Probably the number one cause of Next Day bad feelings!

Thanks.  Good suggestions all.  I'll let you know how it goes.  As for a sitter, not sure if I can find someone.  No close friends near by and not sure if the wife will understand.

I also think you'll be fine.. but remember that you aren't a fish and try to avoid sitting down in the pool!  :thumbup:  I'm sure the feeling of swimming will be fantastic.

Other than that, just stay hydrated and don't forget to bring a towel!
No, but really I hate the feeling of being wet, or in wet clothes, and know that not having a towel prepared would bug me. :crazy2:

You're starting off at a responsible dose, this is very good.

Oh bugger that.  I trip in my bathtub all the time, and I write there, while tripping, with the lights out - hard to beat it.  You want a place where you can control the temperature, or at least where you won't be cold, as shrooms will lower your metabolism for a while during and after the comeup.  I also love tripping while sunbathing, that can be extremely fine.  The warmer the better, in my opinion.  OEVs in the bright sunshine are amazing. :awecid:  Of course that would be with a large dose. :lol:

Start small and work up, or start large, it won't really matter, just do what you're most comfortable with.

If you know how to swim you won't drown.

Good luck from a 59yo noob.  I would do the music route first.  Pick some of you favorite oldie tunes and you will be amazed. Music makes for a true OMG moment.  Hopefully you have a room with a nice sound system.  I used my iPod Touch with a Bose radio first time.  Pick songs you hate and you will love them! 

I suggest you try grinding up dry fruits with a coffee grinder and use the shroom tea approach with 2 tsp of fresh lemon juice.  Search here for tea and lemon tek.  The trip will onset fast and last 3 hrs - keep wifey happy.  Send her on a shopping spree and be done by the time she gets back. 

Remember - this will make all the senses magnified (like smell, sound (omg),vision) as well as emotions (fear, anxiety, paranoia).  Get comfortable and relaxed going in.  No food for 3 - 4 hours before and empty the bladder.  Depending on the dose, you may feel glued to your chair (I did first time only).
