I sleep very lightly and hardly ever dream. When I do, its about everyday stuff. I'm sorry for your neuroses, have you considered drinking a lot of ayahuasca?

I remember a dream once every few months because I have morning amnesia.

Thanks. Been there done that.

Hardly ever dream? I think not. You don't remember your dreams is all.

Eh, prove it. Sometimes I barely sleep. I just sit there and wait for 6 hours until I can wake up.

Why worry?

To be honest, I find that awareness of my dreams really makes me feel like I haven't slept. I just don't feel rested at all. Been true for the last few years. I just wake up and feel like I never got to actually sleep -- maybe that says something about the manner in which I pay attention. It's effortful.

Problem is, I don't willfully try to pay attention, it just happens. Stimulus is there, so I watch it.

It's been proven, fucking god don't they teach this in school anymore. Or can't you retain any information?

So what if you barely sleep you need REM sleep or your go nuts in a very short while and it's been proven.

I couldn't remember my dreams until I quit smoking pot. Now I remember them all and I think it is good. I get to see all the crap going on in my subconscious.

Peter Tripp: 201 Hours

The New York DJ, Peter Tripp, set a world record for sleep deprivation in 1959. He went for 201 hours (8.4 days) without sleep. He spent most of the time in a glass booth in Times Square, and the rest in a hotel room across the street, set up as a laboratory to monitor his reactions.

The stunt produced strange results. After three days, Tripp began to find things hilarious that weren't funny at all. At other times, he became upset for no reason. He was also confused, asking why there were bolts in the window frames.Sleep Deprivation: Guinness World Records

By day four, he was suffering from hallucinations and paranoia. At first they were simple patterns - like cobwebs on the doctors' faces, or imagining that paint specks on the table were insects.

But soon his hallucinations became 3D. Tripp imagined mice and kittens scurrying around the room...

Eventually, Peter Tripp became psychotic. He rummaged through draws looking for non-existent money. He accused a technician of trying to harm him. He then claimed he was not Peter Tripp but an imposter. Nothing made sense to him.

On reaching his 200-hour target, Tripp was made to stay awake for one final hour while doctors did more tests. They left the EEG in place as he finally closed his bloodshot eyes and entered a deep 13-hour slumber.

He may have been physically restored, but Tripp's family soon noticed a difference in his personality. His wife said he was moody and depressed. He fought with his boss, became involved in the payola scandal, and was fired from his high profile job as a radio DJ. He went on to have four divorces. Some would say the sleep stunt changed Peter Tripp forever.

I had a dream a couple of weeks ago, very strange it was, and seemed to last only a minute or two ( in dream minutes ). I remember walking out of a wood near where I live carrying a spade, I then started digging, but the soil was really loose like it had been disturbed recently. Upon noticing this I removed a spadeful and found a deep very narrow shaft ( about 150mm in diameter ), I then remember dropping half a house brick down the shaft, or something the size of said brick. Then I remember nothing else from the dream.
Any analysis ?

Yes, like eating and drinking, REM sleep is required for all people and in all places and situations.

yeah if you take some like me who only remembers a dream once ever couple of months, and you wake them up during rem and sleep and ask them if they are dreaming they will be dreaming. Studies like this have shown everyone has many dreams during the night.

Not Reptilians, though. You do NOT want to wake them up while they are sleeping! :nono:
